The ENTIRE, SOLE reason for immunity or pardon is so that a citizen can FREELYADMIT HIS GUILT for crimes he committed WITHOUT repercussions in return for his testimony, cooperation …waiving his 5th Amendment rights! The “President or AG” has the power when it comes to Federal Criminal Law to force someone to talk! If a subject is granted immunity, they must admit to their crimes, agree to testify and they will give up their 5th Amendment Rights. It always comes with conditions, and they MUST swear TO TELL THE TRUTH. If he does not tell the truth, if he lies just once, if he changes his mind, if he pleads the 5th, they lose that immunity AND can be forced to comply by charging them with the crimes that he just swore he committed, starting with perjury! If he lies after being granted immunity ...if he continues to refuse to answer truthfully, the Grand Jury then charges that defendant with the crimes “he admitted to committing” and is put in jail, with NO MORE delays ...he spends the rest of this Grand Jury’s session in jail! It gets better ...the Federal Judge, after the cur rent Grand Jury time expires, brings in the new Grand Jury and defendant and asks if he wants to cooperate. If he doesn’t ...the whole cycle starts again! It gets better ...there can be no bail ...the entire term must be served this time around ...each and every time! I was going to get into all those treason crimes Obiden and his staff committed and name all the laws they violated (that they CANNOT weasel their way out of) because there is Statute of Limitation for Treason ...and too many Democraps have committed too many acts of Treason to tie up the paper ...right now. A man who never found a microphone he didn't like was refusing to engage in defending his record. Then the elitist media that claim to be all about transparency and accountability rushed to his defense. Sen. Rand Paul's release of Fauci's writings on his government computer revealed just how cozy the wily doctor was with the network news stars in 2020, from George Stephanopoulos to Chuck Todd to Jake Tapper. This was an obvious reason for the networks to bury the story of these writings. It was all reminiscent of 2016, when Wikileaks dropped a pile of communications between Hillary Clinton aide John Podesta and other Democrats and political journalists. The networks discussed the leaked documents about the Clinton campaign vs. the Bernie Sanders campaign. But they weren't going to discuss the chummy content between Podesta and the "objective" reporters. Wikileaks exposed that in 2015, NBC's Chuck Todd invited Podesta (among others) to their home for "Cocktails & Dinner in honor of " Jennifer Palmieri, another Clinton staffer, and her Democrat husband, Jim Lyons. Wikileaks revealed CNN asked the Democratic National Committee for questions to ask Donald Trump and Ted Cruz. What we're never told is how cooperative the journalists were with the Democrat suggestions. This is, in a word, collusion -- a complete blur between journalists and Democrats, all seeking the same political objectives. But the media that claims to be all for democracy and transparency hide their inner chumminess in concocting the "news" product while pretending there is no secretive alliance. In mid-October 2016, CNN's Brian Stelter denied the flaming mountain of Wikileaks collusion: "In Trump's world, journalists are really just Clinton campaign workers in disguise collaborating with her in an attempt to rig the election. This is not just false, it's ludicrous and it's damaging." Fast-forward to 2020. Now, Fauci revealed two dinners at Jake Tapper's house, and called it "friendship building." Just like CNN and the DNC in 2016, Tapper asked Fauci to suggest spicy questions for a hardball interview with a Trump official on COVID policy. This is why the networks settled with Trump in his defamation suits -- they didn't want Trump officials rifling through internal emails that would demonstrate, like Fauci's diaries did, the way "mainstream" reporters conduct their business. Dig down several layers and you find there is no distance between most journalists and Democrats. There is an ongoing partnership. They "rig" every campaign. "Journalists need sources, and friendships aren't uncommon," wrote the Wall Street Journal editorial board about Fauci's messages. "But the conformist media idolatry of Dr. Fauci was a way of shutting off debate over Covid policy. It also became a way for the press to attack President Trump in an election year." These friendly sources can have their names on the record, when their weighty authority can be milked, or they can share their hot takes as anonymous "senior government officials." It all depends on which concoction is needed in the "news" cycle. During the pandemic, Dr. Fauci was an integral cog in the Democrat messaging machine, and they love it the most when the partisans can be painted as nonpartisans, that a political activist like Fauci can be presented as the quintessential fact-based scientist and public servant. All of them wanted to use COVID to remove Trump from office, and they succeeded -- for a time. Page 3 The Sun Bay Paper August 2, 2026 Saved by the Boys of Summer: Baseball to the Rescue, Again At my age, I shouldn’t care so much whether the Boston Red Sox win or lose, let alone permit my daily mood to rise or fall accordingly. It’s only a game. It’s supposed to be a pastime (according to AI, something that “helps make the hours pass pleasantly when you are not working”), not an obsession. There are 162 games a year and letting your emotional state hinge on whether your favorite team scores more runs than the other team is obviously senseless. And yet. Generations of Americans have been swept up by the game. Children never forget their first trip to the ballpark or memories of playing catch with their father, or the ball players they elevated to heroes, or observing their elders go ballistic over a dropped ball. My friend Paul remembers being five years old and watching his father rip the radio out of the wall after the Red Sox grounded into a rally-killing double play. That was in 1958. For New Englanders, that kind of passion hasn’t abated much, even if people are watching games on cell phones. It’s been ever thus. “Six months out of every year, I may as well be made of stone,” laments the long-suffering wife of a die-hard Washington Senators fan in the 1955 Broadway musical “Damn Yankees”, while her long-suffering husband sings “Those damn Yankees, why can’t we beat ‘em?” Speaking of the Yankees, years ago I was comparing notes about baseball obsession with Floyd Abrams, the great First Amendment scholar/advocate, who has argued numerous cases before the U.S. Supreme Court on erudite points of constitutional law. Abrams, an overcharged Yankees fan, told me that any neurosis I had about the Red Sox paled before his about the Yankees. “I doubt it,” I said. “Trust me,” he said, and related that every night, when he watched the Yankees games on television, he had to leave the room while the opposing team was at bat. “You win,” I said. Anyone who has ever dropped their kid off to begin their freshman year at college remembers the surge of emotion that the experience triggers: the sad wonder about the time that has flown by, the brooding about the things not done together, the re-discovery of the bedroom, hermetically sealed since age 13, suddenly open to reveal a space, once a pigsty, now deserted. As in every other New England family, my son and I bonded intensely over the Red Sox. The weekend after we dropped him off at college, while I was still in a post-dropoff funk, the Sox and their archrival Yankees played a three-game series. The Sox won the first game, the Bad Guys the second. In the final game, nationally televised, the Yankees beat the Red Sox in the ninth inning. I did not throw furniture. I did not rip the television out of the wall. But it’s possible that some of the pent-up emotion over the previous week’s college drop-off seeped out, just a bit. Perhaps trying to comfort, our teenage daughter attempted to reason with me. “Why does it matter?” she asked. “It’s just a piece of wood and a ball. This wasn’t helpful. Exactly at that moment, a text arrived from my son, looking after his old man, albeit from a distance. “Don’t do it,” the text said simply. “You have so much to live for.” Given the state of the world, there was particular reason to look forward to the Red Sox season this year: part diversion, part reason for hope. The team did not oblige for the first half of the season. They did not hit. They did not pitch. They did not field. Consequently, they did not win. Then a miracle happened. Call it a sign from God. The team won 15 games in a row. They are back in contention -- for now. My son and daughter-in-law have been staying with us for a few weeks. The old ritual has returned: sitting together to watch our beloved team and sweat every pitch. Point is: you have got to hand it to the Boys of Summer. Somehow or other, however bad things are, they give you reason to hope. And to remember. DAILY EDITORIALS BY: JEFF ROBBINS 'Murder 101' Isn't Much About a Murder at All Like parents, teachers can shape not just a child's experience in the world but also the very essence of who they are. Stumble into a class with a bad teacher and the encounter might stick with you forever. To wit: I'm a grown woman with kids of my own, and I still remember my 8th-grade social studies teacher, who, on the first day of school, made fun of my exotic-sounding Greek last name and told the giggling class that it sounded like a disease. But the right one can transform your very being. Mr. Hopkins was my 10th-grade English teacher. On his wall, he had a "no hunting" sign. By "hunting," he meant to humiliate or tease. "You aren't allowed to hunt each other," he explained on the first day. In the parlance of today's culture, he was telling us that his class was a safe space. I thought about Mr. Hopkins the other day as I watched the "Murder 101" limited series documentary on Amazon Prime. It's ostensibly true crime, but you could make a good argument that it's actually a documentary about teachers, and the way they can change a kid's life for the better. "Murder 101" follows the 2025 sociology class of Alex Campbell, a teacher at Elizabethton High, a small-town Tennessee school in the Appalachian Mountains. Mr. Campbell, as his kids call him, uses cold cases to teach sociology in project-based learning. Throughout the season, the students investigate decades-old murders, researching victims and suspects, accessing public records and collaborating with state law enforcement assigned to the cases. Without spoiling, I can tell you that though the framework of the show is ostensibly about their investigation, it's far more about the impact that Mr. Campbell has on the children in his class, many of whom come from families torn apart by drug addiction, poverty and abandonment. You watch the group progress throughout the year and see the ways that the class helps them navigate their challenges. Some of the kids featured in the series are a foster child with an imprisoned father, the orphaned daughter of a woman who struggled with drug addiction, a bullied girl who found her voice and a popular jock feeling lost as he approaches adulthood. But you'll learn through the documentary that these are just stereotypes and fail to capture the complexity of a life -- even a young one. Like the victims of the murders they study, the students are much more than what happened to them. One of the murder victims, a mother of three, worked as a prostitute before her death, and you can see the fierceness in one of Mr. Campbell's students as she says that she would do anything for her children, too. In news stories, on social media and in everyday life, it can be tempting to pass judgment. The climate of our culture virtually demands it. What do you think of this makeup? What do you think of this diet? What do you think of this parenting technique? Those implied or explicitly stated questions are how we're hooked into commenting. We have a powerful urge to believe that we can control our own fates. If you hear about a woman who was murdered, it can be scary to think that it could happen to anyone. It's much safer to believe that it was her fault, that she invited her fate with her choices or lifestyle, and that our choices and lifestyles protect us from any similar danger. The alternative is justifiable fear, knowing that we cannot prevent bad things from happening -- in fact, that bad things probably will happen to us, at some point in our lives, as Mr. Campbell acknowledges to the class in one episode. But if we allow that fear into our hearts, compassion will sneak in beside it. Compassion for others, of course, but also compassion for ourselves. Because the lessons that Mr. Campbell teaches these kids are that we did not deserve the bad things that happened to us and that, perhaps more importantly, those bad things do not have to define us. We can be more than a bullied girl, a foster kid, a jock, an orphan or a murder victim. We, and they, become a full picture rather than a stereotype by being known, by being understood. These both are and are not sociology lessons. They are also lessons about life, and about how to become the best version of yourself, which really is the only thing worth learning in school anyway. Page 4 The Sun Bay Paper August 2, 2026 As I’ve pointed out before, I usually find myself answering the same questions over and over again. But I’ve saved up a couple of oddball questions -- and here they are. But first, I want to make it clear I am not calling the people who emailed me the questions “oddballs.” However, I am saying the questions they asked were odd -- or at least out of the ordinary. Q: I recently signed up for my Social Security after working for more than 40 years. I’ve often wondered this. I know that once you have 40 quarters of coverage, you are eligible for Social Security retirement benefits. I bet I had those 40 quarters way back when I was maybe 30 years old. Could I have quit working back then and still gotten a Social Security benefit someday? And if so, why didn’t I just do that? A: Interesting questions. Before I answer them, let me clarify a term for some readers. You talked about “quarters of coverage.” That’s an old term that hasn’t been used in years. Younger readers might know that as “credits.” And here is why. When Social Security first started, the law said that if you worked and paid Social Security taxes on earnings of $50 or more within a calendar quarter (January-March; April-June; etc.), you got one “quarter of coverage” applied to your Social Security account. And then the law further said that once you had 40 of those quarters, you were then “insured” for Social Security retirement benefits. But about 50 years or so ago, they did away with the calendar quarter business and changed the rules to say you got one “credit” for each specified amount of money you made, not to exceed four credits in one year. That specified amount goes up slightly every year. For example, in 2026, you get one credit for each $1,890 you earn. But again, no more than four credits can be earned in a year. So that means in 2026, once you make $7,560, you have earned the maximum four Social Security credits you can get. Here is an interesting way of looking at that. For most of us, that means you probably have to work about a month or more before you earn four Social Security credits. But for a billionaire like Elon Musk, for example, he probably earns his four credits five minutes after he walks into his Space X offices on Jan. 2 of each year! OK. So that clarifies why “quarters of coverage” and “credits” are the same thing. Now, to answer your question about quitting at age 30 and getting your Social Security. You could potentially do that. But you would end up with an awfully small Social Security benefit. That benefit will be based on your average income over your highest 35 years of earnings. So if you end up with only 10 years of earnings on your record, that means they would have to factor 25 years of “zero” earnings into your Social Security computation. And that would drag down your average earnings, and thus your Social Security benefit, to a very low amount. Q: My wife and I are both in our late 50s and starting to think about Social Security. I have had well-paid jobs all my life and always paid the maximum into Social Security. My wife spent a big chunk of our 35-year marriage staying home and taking care of the kids. She just barely has her 40 quarters. Can I take the next 10 years or so, transferring my earnings to my wife’s Social Security record, thus building up her Social Security account? I figure we could do this because we file a joint tax return. A: You can’t do that. How you file a tax return has nothing to do with the assignment of Social Security earnings to individual records. And even if you could do such a thing, you wouldn’t want to do it. Why? Because your wife will end up getting higher Social Security benefits as a spouse on your record than she ever would get on her own account. Let’s say your benefit will be $4,000 per month and your wife’s own small retirement benefit will be $500. Assuming you start benefits at your full retirement age, she would be due a spousal benefit of $1,500 on your account to supplement her own $500 benefit. Now, let’s say you were able to give some of your earnings to your wife for several years. That might boost her own benefit to maybe $800 per month. But she is still going to end up with $2,000 in total benefits ($800 on her record and $1,300 from you). So why bother trying to boost her own benefit? Q: I am 73 years old and have been getting Social Security since I turned 66. I just stopped working. I started working when I was 13. One thing that has always bugged me is that the earnings I had between ages 13 and 18 never showed up on my Social Security record. I didn’t make much back then, but at least it was something and those earnings probably would have increased my Social Security benefit. I have been fighting for years to get those earnings included in my Social Security records. I think I’ve hired a half dozen lawyers over the years to help me fix this. And still nothing has happened! Can you help me? A: I can help you by telling you to stop obsessing over this and to stop wasting money on lawyers. Even if you got those old earnings added to your Social Security records, they wouldn’t increase your benefit by a single nickel. Why? Because your retirement benefit was based on your highest 35 years of earnings. And for most people, their highest 35 years are their last 35 years. You said you filed for retirement benefits when you were 66. So it’s a pretty good bet that your original Social Security benefit was based on your earnings between ages 31 and 66. So that means any earnings you had before that, especially the paltry money you made as a teenager, would never be used in your retirement benefit calculation. One other note. You said you just stopped working at age 73. There is a pretty good chance that each year’s worth of earnings you had between age 66 and 73 bumped up your benefit by a little bit. How and why that happens is WAY too complicated to explain in what’s left of today’s column. But when it comes to the national media, the crime is only serious if it can make Republicans look bad. Recently, Curtis Houck of the Media Research Center found that ABC, CBS and NBC devoted 1,627 minutes of airtime on their morning, evening and Sunday shows over the last year to the Jeffrey Epstein controversy, which was overwhelmingly concentrated on Donald Trump. On July 2, The New York Times reported on the front page that Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and two other officials pardoned Tou Lue Vang -- a man convicted of repeatedly sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl -- so he could avoid deportation by the Trump administration. Vang’s original order of removal came in 2006. Where were ABC, CBS and NBC on this scandal? We couldn’t find any broadcast coverage. PBS and NPR didn’t show up on this story, either. Walz was almost vice president, and they still couldn’t find it. They skipped it again on July 10, when ICE deported Vang, about 20 years too late. Laos was not accepting the return of Laotians back in the George W. Bush era, but they are now. Walz only came up on MS NOW in recounting the ICE shootings in Minnesota earlier in the year. On CNN, we could only find one mention of Walz’s pardon, on Abby Phillip’s “NewsNight” show, when former Trump press aide Caroline Sunshine briefly brought it up on July 10, but Phillip smothered it down, asking what that had to do with the man shot in Houston by ICE, who had no criminal record. Three nights later, Phillip was more interested in discussing “far-right” people who were supposed to seek a pardon for the rapper named “Boosie Badazz.” The local media were pro-Walz. On July 17, the Minnesota Star Tribune, the biggest newspaper in the Gopher State, featured a “Cheers & Jeers” column by opinion writer Rochelle Olson. She offered “Cheers” to Walz for pardoning the pedophile! “Vang’s actions 20 years ago were awful, but so were the violent protests at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and those folks received presidential pardons,” Olson wrote. Please recall that hundreds of people pardoned in the Jan. 6 prosecutions were convicted of “parading,” or the crime of being present in the Capitol for a few minutes and taking photographs for their Facebook page. To compare those offenders to pedophiles is ludicrous. Even people convicted of assaulting cops don’t compare with repeatedly raping a 10-year-old girl. This demonstrates how much knee-jerk liberals transform criminal migrants into automatic heroes or victims in their anti-Trump narrative. Not every Democrat in Minnesota agreed with the Walz folks. The New York Times reported the attorney’s office in Ramsey County (that includes St. Paul), which handled Vang’s prosecution long ago, opposed this pardon. Tami McConkey, an official there, wrote that Vang had received a lenient sentence of 30 years’ probation in part because the victim in the case, who was then 12, “was experiencing pressure from her family to not cooperate.” Vang’s victim supported the Walz pardon, saying she forgave Vang for his crimes. These networks display a dramatic double standard on pedophilia. It all depends on which party is facing a pedophile scandal. They dramatically overplayed the Epstein conspiracies, but Walz was handed a security blanket of omission. Walz can side with a convicted pedophile over the Evil President and what he called Trump’s “personal Gestapo,” and they’ll stick to covering big summer stories like a bear stealing golf clubs. In fact, they’re having a season. DSA candidates are winning nationwide in Democratic Party primaries, knocking off incumbents while running on some of the most deformed and deranged platforms in recent political memory. Zohran Mamdani, the charismatic young socialist in Gracie Mansion, is the new leader of the DSA pack. Terrifying as it may be, Zo may be the closest thing the entire activist left has these days to a kingmaker. It couldn’t be clearer what the DSA wants: The democratic socialists want to finish the job, launched by Barack Obama on the precipice of presidential victory in 2008, of “fundamentally transforming” the United States. The DSA’s new policy platform, released earlier this month, says the quiet part out loud: “We are workers fighting to transform society,” to “draft a new constitution, and create a democratic socialist republic.” It would be one thing if these were the words of a starry-eyed freshman pothead, first exposed to Marx and pontificating to dormmates while John Lennon’s dreadful song “Imagine” plays in the background. But people like Hizzoner and the new uptown socialist “it girl,” Darializa Avila Chevalier, are adults. They are serious. And that makes them not just naive but dangerous. Zo has had a complicated relationship with the issue of public safety. The official DSA platform stops short of calling for full “abolition” of prisons or policing, instead calling to “demilitarize police departments” and “end mass incarceration.” But Avila Chevalier promoted full-on police and prison abolition from a since-deleted Twitter/X account, and Mamdani condemned the “carceral state” when he ran for state assembly in 2020. After Avila Chevalier’s primary victory, Mamdani was pressed during an appearance on ABC News on whether he supports the existence of prisons. “There are prisons,” he simply responded. That’s not exactly reassuring. Just this week, Zo appeared on purported comic Jon Stewart’s podcast and doubled down on prevarication. Stewart asked Hizzoner if he is “comfortable” with calls to abolish prisons. “I’m comfortable with disagreement,” he replied. Noted. But the more important question is: Should Americans be comfortable with public officials entertaining the abolition of the twin pillars of public safety, police and prisons? The answer is obvious: No. Democratic socialists think they’re helping the “little guy” with their anti-cop, anti-prison lunacy. They’re not. According to recent federal data, 62% of state prisoners were serving time for a violent offense, such as homicide, rape or robbery. These people are threats to society and need to be incarcerated. As esteemed criminologist Barry Latzer notes, the average American inmate was arrested a whopping 11 times before getting locked up, and an astonishing 83% of released prisoners are ultimately rearrested -- about half in the first year after release. Socialists might think they’re helping Blacks amid our post- ”1619 Project” racial reckoning, but they fail here too: Nearly 90% of Black homicide victims are killed by other Blacks. The biggest danger to law-abiding Blacks in America today is the threat posed by violent Blacks out on the streets and not behind bars. I am editor-in-chief and owner of the Sun Bay Paper, a Fort Myers based paper, with a following of +/- 2.2 million people. Because the Buffalo News refuses to print facts instead of opinion, thereby potentially damaging the value of millions of homeowners concerning a serious situation, I decided to possibly set some “minds” at ease with a few real FACTS. With my background as an FBI Agent, Supervisor, with a bachelor’s degree in Material Science and Organic Chemistry, I was tasked with creating the EPA Environmental Crimes Task Force for Western New York beginning about 1978. During my tenure we made many arrests and executed numerous search warrants that I drew up with help from AUSA Littlefield. We closed Frontier Chemical, shut down numerous “mom and pop” disposal sites and executed search warrants on Hooker/ Olin, and many more, for documents. We searched a Department of Defense (DOD) site, the Little Valley Disposal Site for allegations of mishandling of EXTREMELY dangerous spent nuclear rods ...due to many “complaints/allegations” that the rods were not being properly disposed of! We needed Presidential as well as DOJ authority to proceed and we traveled to DC and pled our case... got it...with a hope and a prayer that the complaints were wrong ..and after many days and many experts, we declared they were/are doing more than they had to...to keep everybody safe and we were able to walk out and not be carried out in burn bags! I/ we commended the contractors on the job being done to better than “protection” called for all, to keep it up!!!! I was responsible for all 17 counties! This was a very successful, joint Task Force that included the FBI, DEC, EPA, DOD, AEC...and many, many more!! And we had to stick to the plan which was to enforce the Big 8 Laws...only! There were no Federal Laws regulating Radon gas... then! To this date there are no Federal Laws to my knowledge...there may be for NY State. I will not allow a self-declared reporter, wannabe scientist who has NO science background, who is looking for fame by creating imaginary facts she saw years ago by another knows nothing, who also has no science background whatsoever and is creating unnecessary, incorrect and self-serving reporting giving homeowners, specifically in Western New York, serious concern about everything. Now it’s a RADON...run... “Chicken Little the sky is falling” ...Chicken Little... radon poisoning. They tried to create another Love Canal by dragging nonsense about contamination of industrial waste on Cayuga Island that was declared clean many years ago by the task force, EPA and DEC. We got that turned around...and now Ms. Shuman has picked another target, radon, and the Buffalo News has opened themselves up to a liability by believing an ignorant, uneducated reporter in a field she should not have stepped into, in the blind! First, there are... NO “Federal Laws” regarding Radon... it’s handling, its disposal, concentrations...NONE! Why do you think that is? The EPA recommends a 4.0 picocuries per liter. One would believe if Radon were so dangerous there would be Federal laws? But there are none!? The States do what they want with Radon...so it is a big problem. Neither scientists nor the medical profession knows what a safe, allowable number is ...everybody guesses...assumes. The problem is Radon is tasteless, orderless, a gas that is the heaviest of them all, so it stays close to the earth... Is it dangerous? I imagine it is ...BUT...at what concentrations? The damn stuff is difficult to detect because it’s created by decaying Uranium. I don’t know what to do about it... unlike others ...I admit it! It’s created by decaying Uranium and other rocks, at a very, very slow pace and some become... undetectable ... Radon, GAS!? This is my opinion...the mathematical odds are in our favor ... the odds of Radon forming in your yard in dangerous concentrations are slim. It has to develop into gas ...then you must be exposed to it for a very long time, and it must be inhaled over a long time. There are over 400,000,000 people who could be exposed to Radon. That is all the “EXPERTS” claim. Radon (indirectly) claims 21,000 victims a year who come down with “Radon” exposure to the point it causes lung cancer and if they are exposed to the gas a long time...like miners! FACT is that the 21,000 number is a 2022 survey ...for miners...gold, coal, natural gas...etc. It was taken to try and nail down what a safe concentration is...for miners ...hundreds to thousands of feet below the earth and they STILL don’t know! My estimate can’t be much worse...let’s move the survey to the earth’s surface, where we live...and cut the deaths in half and make it 10,500... that’s probably closer! So when divide by 50 states we come up with 210 people “die” from Radon exposure. Let’s think out those numbers. I personally never met anybody who suffered with Radon, lung cancer and modern-day statements, in my opinion, are not facts. They are assumptions. They are estimates and I personally wish and hope for a way to see what is invisible, odorless, but sought after for other uses. I am more likely to get hit by a camel while crossing a street, my opinion! So, we look towards state laws. In October 1988, Congress enacted the Indoor Radon Abatement Act (EPA 1988), which established a longterm goal of indoor air as radon-free as the ambient, outside air. The law authorized funding for radon-related research activities at the state and federal levels. But there are still NO laws for disposal, handling, use of uranium or radon gas ...NO Crimes! Strange thing ...the Sun controls everybody’s way of life...OH YES, IT DOES... if it’s going to snow, flood, have an Earthquake, and so forth. So, we try to protect ourselves the best we can. Do keep tabs on what goes on around us...but don’t panic...test. If you are in a high-risk area...remember there is no way you can stop the elements in the Periodic Chart! People have tried and will continue until all the Uranium is gone, which will be never! Below is an EPA map of radon that is natural to Mother Earth. The chart shows the radon contamination!? Is it contamination if it appears in nature...what if it is exposed/discovered during construction? Do you think it is...natural, dumped or a little of all? Please note that the entire country...has radon! Almost the entire New York State is over 4.0 picocuries!!! The ENTIRE WORLD is covered with “IUM” elements! What will you do now? Make the entire state a Super Fund State? The EPA states that, “There is NO safe radon level!” If you are looking for radon ...look for the Manhattan Project, it’s that property that’s fenced where nobody lives! Do you think Governor Hochul will be pleased that you believe you have discovered radon when no one else has? Got news for you ...your discoveries are ...not in any way new! What you describe as unusually high levels of a naturally occurring elements may have been left behind by a GOD...or possibly the Department of Defense—or it may simply be natural. Radon was discovered about 1900 and was isolated as a possible dangerous gas. But...to this day they (real scientists) do not have the answers on, “what to do ...what is safe” ...saying Radon causes CANCER maybe a “disservice” ...I have no idea, do you? If a smoker lives in a high Radon, saturated house (a 10.0 pics’ house) and has an x-ray, tech job and comes down with cancer...what caused it?! How do we know? Look at the chart below from 2022 by EPA on radon! New York State ... according to the chart ... is pretty much saturated with ...you guessed it ...radon. Remember now, radon is not visible, has no smell, no color, and is extremely hard to identify. Yet you want to tear down 120 homes and take them away …then what? Ms. Shuman and Buffalo Evening News, you have no idea what you are talking about...you probably have NO actual live college educated with a science degree whatsoever. You couldn’t define climate or weather” when I ask you to... The EPA says and I quote, “We don’t know what is safe for radon”!! When I directed the EPA Task Force ... radon was not a top concern! To this day...we cannot agree ... chemists and scientists disagreed! What Is Radon Gas? “A naturally occurring radioactive element, radon is formed when uranium, thorium, or radium decays. Radon forms from the natural breakdown of soil, rock, and water. It diffuses into the air you breathe. It is found across the United States and generally exists in very low concentrations outdoors, meaning we likely breathe it every day!” As I told you when you interviewed me...there is something that is possible, will make you famous, can be done safely and is only 5000 ft long 50 ft wide and about 30 ft deep ...its’ about 3 miles above the Niagara Falls potable water intake! Think about that for a while ...Ms. Shuman... a “famous reporter” for a useless paper ...my opinion! If Radon is discovered in your house...then follow what a certified company recommends. DEC may have a list. Discoveries ... should not be celebrated. It should be researched and investigated and corrected, and NOT dumped into a hole. That includes the Federal Government, all the States and most commercial, and all the factories, paint shops, and on and on! I ran a 56 front and back report from the DEC on radon in New York State ...and the map tells it all. New York has radon at levels far above what homes should have ...4.0 BUT EPA and I’m certain DEC have no idea what SAFE is!!!??? I certainly don’t know either! So, before you want to sell your house...do more research...and don’t believe everything an uninformed reporter, with a college degree in “communications”.
