Page 1 The Sun Bay Paper Innovative approaches to environmental conservation are constantly emerging, offering hope for the restoration of fragile ecosystems. Among these pioneering methods, scientists have turned to underwater speakers as a novel tool to aid in the recovery of degraded coral reefs. The use of sound to rejuvenate these vital marine habitats represents a promising strategy in the battle against coral decline. Coral reefs, often dubbed the “rainforests of the sea,” are biodiverse ecosystems that provide a habitat for a myriad of marine life. However, factors such as climate change, pollution, overfishing, and coastal development have led to widespread coral degradation worldwide. As a result, efforts to reverse this trend and promote coral reef recovery have become increasingly urgent. Solar eclipses occur when the moon obscures part or all of the sun. The April 8 eclipse on FMB starts at 1:44 p.m., hits its peak of 61% at 3 p.m. and concludes at 4:13 p.m. If you watched our last FMB solar eclipse, on August 21, 2017, that one was a bit fuller at 77%. While the 2024 one is slightly smaller, every mile makes a diff erence – in Punta Gorda, it will be 62% but just few miles to the south, Naples will experience 59%. If you want to remain in the aptly-named Sunshine State to view it, your best option is the Panhandle at 82% while Miami and Key West will see 55%. For hundreds of thousands of “eclipse tourists” from throughout the nation and world, a partial view will not do, so they are traveling to various parts of the United States that will fall within the 115 to 124-mile-wide arc of totality. That will span from Texas moving to the northeast through Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. If you cannot travel to totality, do not fret as the 2024 eclipse will be at least partially visible in all 48 contiguous states. At the heart of this brewing storm is Commissioner Ray Sandelli, whose lack of communication has left the community’s ambitious plans for the iconic pier’s reconstruction adrift. A frustrated community seeks transparency and action from county offi cials. The absence of essential information about the pier’s future prompts critical questions that, to date, have gone unanswered. March 22, 2024 The Sun Bay Paper Page 2 and the Lee County Press Offi ce these questions over a week ago. As of press time, there was no response: What are Commissioner Sandelli’s comments on the Fort Myers Beach Pier Rebuild?” Why is there no support for a more expansive pier that could boost tourism and economic activity?” Can Mr. Sandelli provide examples from his business career at CBRE where non-forward-thinking investments were still pursued? What are the highlights of the Commissioner’s tenure in the context of the pier’s reconstruction? What are his thoughts on community plans for a larger, more robust pier that could be a major tourist attraction? The lack of response from Commissioner Sandelli is not just a local issue but a roadblock in the path of economic recovery and community revitalization. FMB could leverage the pier as a central hub for tourists and locals. However, the community’s hands are tied without clear guidance or acknowledgment from county offi cials. The timing for transparency and decisive action could not be more critical. Florida’s tourism numbers, as reported by Governor Ron DeSantis’ offi ce, underscore the economic imperative. The state welcomed 35.1 million visitors between July and September 2023, a record-breaking achievement highlighting the region’s appeal to domestic and international travelers. With over 105.2 million visitors in 2023, the state’s tourism industry is on an upward trajectory, presenting an unprecedented opportunity for FMB and Lee County to capitalize on this growth, provided its infrastructure, notably the pier, can meet this burgeoning demand. Local stakeholders, including residents, business owners, and community groups, have rallied behind the vision of a revitalized pier. Town Council Member Karen Woodson and members of the Let’s Go FMB! Pier Committee, like Alan Shanosky, have been proactive in their eff orts to contribute to the pier’s redesign and reconstruction. Shanosky, in particular, has dedicated signifi cant time to researching pier rebuilds and visiting numerous sites along the Florida coast and the Eastern seaboard to gather insights and best practices. The community’s readiness to support and invest in the pier’s future contrasts with Lee County offi cials’ inaction. FMB’s willingness to engage, fundraise, and plan is evident, yet these eff orts remain in limbo without a clear direction or open dialogue from the county. Commissioner Sandelli and Lee County’s silence hampers the reconstruction eff orts and raises questions about their commitment to FMB’s recovery and future prosperity. The pier, more than a structure, symbolizes the community’s resilience and hope. Its reconstruction could catalyze economic revival, drawing tourists and supporting local businesses, ultimately contributing to the region’s recovery from Hurricane Ian’s impacts. FMB stands ready to turn setbacks into opportunities. The ball is squarely in Lee County’s court. The need for transparency, detailed planning, and community involvement has never been more pronounced. The reconstruction of the FMB Pier represents a signifi cant opportunity for community development and tourism enhancement. This opportunity hinges on the willingness of county offi cials to step forward, engage with their constituents, and provide the leadership necessary to navigate these murky waters. The path forward is straightforward but requires collective will, transparency, and action from all parties involved, starting with Commissioner Sandelli and Lee County. The community awaits, hopeful yet determined, ready to rebuild not just a pier but a brighter, more prosperous future for Fort Myers Beach. Richard Luthmann Cont. from pg. 1 Stalled Pier Progress

Page 3 March 22, 2024 marine biologists is the deployment of underwater speakers. These devices emit specific sounds designed to mimic the natural noises of a healthy reef environment, such as the crackling of shrimp, the clicking of fish, and the low-frequency rumble of waves. This technique, known as acoustic enrichment, aims to attract fish and other marine organisms to degraded reef areas, kickstarting the ecological processes necessary for recovery. The sounds of a healthy reef could be used to encourage coral larvae to recolonize damaged or degraded reefs, according to a study published in the journal Royal Society Open Science on Tuesday. Underwater speakers that play the sounds of a healthy reef, such as fish calls, were found to help coral larvae settle at rates up to seven times higher. The concept behind using sound to aid in coral reef restoration is rooted in the pivotal role that acoustics play in marine ecosystems. Sound serves as a crucial form of communication, navigation, and habitat assessment for many marine species. By simulating the sounds of a thriving reef, scientists hope to draw in fish that serve as key players in reef ecosystems, performing vital functions such as algae grazing and coral larvae dispersal. Research supporting the efficacy of underwater speakers in coral reef restoration is steadily accumulating. Studies have shown that the presence of artificial reef sounds can enhance fish diversity and abundance in degraded reef areas. Additionally, these amplified fish populations can contribute to coral recovery by facilitating the dispersal of coral larvae and controlling algal growth, thereby promoting the resilience of coral communities. The use of underwater speakers is not without its challenges and considerations. Scientists must carefully select the appropriate sounds and frequencies to mimic the natural acoustic environment of healthy reefs while avoiding potential negative impacts, such as masking important communication signals or causing stress to marine life. Furthermore, the deployment of these devices requires careful monitoring to assess their long-term effects on reef ecosystems and ensure they do not inadvertently attract invasive species. Researchers at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution have been recording underwater sounds from coral reefs in the Caribbean for close to a decade, Nadège Aoki, a marine biologist at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts and author of the paper, told ABC News. During that time, they observed that healthier reefs tended to have more diverse fish assemblages as well as more complex soundscapes. Fish make sounds by strumming on their swim bladder and crunching and scraping on corals, Aoki said. Other sounds of the reef could include the crackling of snapping shrimp, according to the researchers. “They have a sound environment that is distinctive and gives kind of an acoustic signature to the reef,” Aoki said. Despite these challenges, the potential benefits of acoustic enrichment in coral reef restoration are significant. By harnessing the power of sound to rejuvenate degraded habitats, scientists are offering a glimmer of hope for the future of these invaluable marine ecosystems. As efforts to combat coral decline continue, innovative techniques like underwater speakers may play a crucial role in preserving the beauty and biodiversity of our oceans for generations to come. March 22, 2024 The Sun Bay Paper Page 4 Letter to The Editor Editorial To the Editor, The upcoming Solar Eclipse is another reminder that we are being lied to! For the moon to eclipse the sun which they tell us is 400 times larger than our moon, is a scientifi c conuncrum. I know you have reported on Flat Earth in the past and this is another example of why it is diffi cult to believe we are on a round ball spinning at 1,000 miles an hour, traveling around the sun at 67,000. Think about that, pick up a ball rotate it in your hand and move it across your arms lenght while rotating...now imaging a moon attached to it.. How is that moon going to eclipse the sun? I remember science class, we learned how light bends aroung objects, place an object near the surface of the ground and the shadow is crisp and defi ned, pull that object away from the ground and the shadow edges blur an ultimately dissapear. This would make it impossible for our small moon to obscure the sun and show a corona! The image I attached is only pollible if the sun and moon are close to each other and the same size and not traveling through space. Larry Cooper “Queen of Weed” Conundrum and FMB’s Balancing Act Between Innovation, Tradition, and Recovery Fort Myers Beach is currently navigating a tempest stirred by smoke. The arrival of the “Queen of Weed” truck in Times Square has catapulted the town into a complex debate over its future, touching upon risk management, emergency preparedness, and the evolving landscape of food trucks and trailers. At the heart of this discourse is a pivotal question for the local restaurant industry: Can the “Tiki Bar—Food Trailer” model, exemplifi ed by La Ola in Times Square, become the new norm for eateries in FMB? This model presents a compelling case for adaptability in emergencies or threats. Unlike fi xed structures, food trucks can be quickly relocated to safe locations, ensuring minimal disruption to business continuity and facilitating a swift reopening process. This mobility was a boon in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, as evidenced by establishments like Snug Harbor and Wahoo Willie’s. Traditionally reliant on sit-down dining, these restaurants turned to food trucks to continue serving their customers while their permanent kitchens were restored. This approach not only sustained them through challenging times but also showcased the potential of mobile kitchens as a resilient alternative in disaster-prone areas. The issue ignited by the “Queen of Weed” truck transcends the practicalities of food service delivery. It has sparked a more comprehensive discussion about the role of mobile vendors on the island, particularly in disaster recovery and urban planning. “I had not received any complaints about food trucks ‘or temporary uses’ until this one truck showed up,” Mayor Allers said. The truck’s appearance has inadvertently highlighted underlying tensions regarding what types of businesses are appropriate for the recovering island, refl ecting broader societal debates about marijuana-related businesses. “The fear is of the proliferation on just all these lots, another food truck, another food truck,” Councilmember Scott Saff ord expressed, capturing the shared concern of unchecked growth. This makes sense for mobile kitchens unconnected to permanent establishments. Some council members and residents are wary of giving mobile vendors an unfair advantage over brick-and-mortar establishments that suff ered greatly during the hurricane. “My preference is for the businesses that were here before the storm. I would give all kinds of exceptions for them,” concurred Councilmember Karen Woodson, emphasizing the priority of aiding existing businesses in their recovery eff orts. Mayor Allers has been careful not to frame the issue regarding outright discrimination. “I don’t want to use the word discriminate,” he stated, signaling a cautious approach to regulation that seeks to avoid legal pitfalls while addressing community standards. But the Queen of Weed truck issue is a red herring. The mayor doesn’t want to call it discrimination, but it is. Some people don’t like the products they sell or the image they project, and that’s their right. On the other hand, state law gives businesses the right to operate. The answer isn’t to ban all the trucks, especially when compliance with new building codes for permanent establishments is onerous. The council’s deliberations reveal the intricate balancing act required to manage the town’s recovery: fostering a conducive environment for all businesses while maintaining the island’s character and complying with legal standards. The answer is to discriminate - systematically and in a manner the law allows. Use a scalpel and not a spoon. A more innovative solution is not to eschew mobile vendors altogether but to apply a more discerning approach to regulation. This means discriminating – systematically and within the bounds of the law. Mayor Allers and the Town Council should consider an opinion from the Town Attorney on applying Blue Laws, which have historically been used to regulate local activities based on time, place, and manner. Such laws have consistently been upheld in the state for alcohol sales, suggesting a potential pathway for managing marijuana-related businesses in a manner that respects community standards without broadly stifl ing economic activity. This nuanced approach recognizes the value of mobile food trucks linked to permanent establishments in enhancing the town’s resilience and economic diversity, particularly during disasters like Hurricane Ian. The “Queen of Weed” controversy serves as a litmus test for FMB’s ability to navigate the intricacies of modern governance. It challenges the town to devise innovative solutions that accommodate the changing dynamics of commerce and culture while safeguarding its core values, community welfare, and resilience in the face of future challenges. Page 5 The Sun Bay Paper March 22, 2024 I cannot remember the number of times I wrote a column that most found not only informative …but also “common sense”. Then, once in a while, someone with the a total lack of knowledge of the topic… doesn’t attack the facts because he can’t and…they attack the writer! Actually that’s good because I know for certain, when that happens... “I’m on THE RIGHT SIDE”! That’s a very old trial tactic…when you can’t attack the evidence, attack the witness! You see, I believe, most of life is “common sense”. Too many coincidents make a fact…if there’s smoke, there’s fi re…the person who farts, is usually the guilty party who’s pointing their fi nger at you! Of all the current politicians , today, who blames someone else the most, never admits he‘s wrong? Can you guess? If you listen to Crazy Joe Obiden you will quickly learn crazy Joe Obiden and his followers blame Trump for everything. Oddly enough the two scoundrels that are the true culprits…Hussein and Obiden are guilty! If you are deaf, dumb and blind, you know President Trump provided the safest Southern Border that there ever was. I worked side by side with the Border patrol and Customs on the Northern Border. Everyone in the Border Patrol had to do their time on the Southern Border which was deemed the most dangerous job in the country…#1! For decades it was a hell hole and most Border Patrolman were shot at…even from Mexico! It was rare when FBI Agents were fi red upon with a few exceptions…the New York Offi ce Bank Squad and Gotti Truck Squad. I was on both and saw that fi rst hand. That didn’t end until President Trump stepped in. Well …it never really stopped but was signifi cantly reduced! Ask any Border Patrol Agent, “ who made the Texas Border safer than it ever was”? Common sense, folks. That’s why Pelosi, Obiden and many others used your tax dollars to install alarms, camera, AND WALLS AND FENCES around their homes! . But …they don’t work! Common sense folks …what do you think…of course they do…Trump proved it. BUT what does crazy Joe do he stopped construction, that was all paid for with our dollars and then bragged about it? He tore down that wall… fi rst EOs out of his senile mouth were OPEN THE BORDER? Trump built the wall and it worked as he promised. Hussein and crazy Joe ,both said it won’t help all the while Hussein was putting up the wall at his “spy” castle down the street from the White House …you know closer to the White house the shorter the wires would be and easier the “overhear” would be!! Word has it the NSA and CIA have the Spy Castle, all wired up for the coming elections! All set for the election… does anybody have a frequency interrupter handy? Where’s the common sense? When the fence went up, Trump closed the border to Iranians. Our laws for the most part are based upon “common sense”. The word “reasonable” and the phrase, “What a reasonable person would believe”… pops up quite often in our laws. When the leaders of Iran began saying, “We will kill all Americans”, I believed they meant it …didn’t you? Golly gee ,they freaking said it …not once or twice but every opportunity they had and then blew up the Cole, blew up our embassy’s, crashed planes into our buildings killing more Americans than the Japs at Pearl Harbor, and … they still say it to this day, “We will kill all the Americans”. Do you know what other President deported college students and shut the Border to Iranians? Jimmy Carter!!! In 1979 our own State Department tagged Iran, THE biggest State Sponsor of terrorist Acts worldwide and Pres Jimmy Carter, deported all Iranian exchange students. To his Credit Jimmy Carter, after his major blunder of supporting the Ayatollah and succumbing to his bird brain staff who urged him to swap out the Shaw of Iran for an a “humanitarian” really? Yes really , they told Jimbo the Ayatollah was a humanitarian …in April 1979, and 6 months later he kidnapped 52 US citizens and chanted ,”Death to America”. How could a President of the United States be that STUPID? Well fork ol’ Jimbo has been out classed in the race to stupidity, by good ol’ Joe Obiden…who now holds the title as Worst F’n President of ALL time…congrats Joe you dumb SOB! My opinion. Jimbo allowed the, out of exile, Ayatollah to take over Iran and the Shaw of Iran, to be removed Then the Ayatollah thanked Joe by kidnapping 52 Americans and held them hostage for 300+ days …they released them faster than spit when a Republican took his oath of offi ce…President Reagan…same day in fact! Okay so with all what we know about Iran …are they friend or foe…remember “common sense”…what do you say? Well guess who gave that same Country $180 billion dollars IN CASH…after knowing, for certain, Iran is OUR ENEMY and we are sort of at war with them (at least they are at war with us)…you Guessed it Hussein Obama …he must have been racing to beat the most stupid President title that Jimbo held …unless Hussein was intentionally committing …TREASON, in furtherance of his true goal. to Make America Islamic!! I think I read some place that giving money(aid) to an enemy is…could be, considered TREASON. What do you think…Common sense rule should be applied here!!! So let’s check out a few facts. Hussein Obama took over 1 million government documents with him when he left offi ce and while he was in offi ce. The cutesy press reported that Hussein was reported to have taken 33 Million records. That’s true, he was accused. The BS press took it upon themselves to CORRECT a false attack upon their beloved Hussein and declared , “ false” he did not. That is also true. Surprisingly, their discourse around the promotion and implementation of digital IDs reveals insights into their strategy, encapsulated in the corporate jargon of a “digital transformation journey.” The alliance between the World Bank and Verizon appears logical considering the prerequisite for centralized identity and financial assets proposed by digital ID initiatives – widespread internet access. Last week at the Global Digital Summit in Washington DC, these financial and telecommunications giants rallied around the notion that governments should integrate digital IDs into the social contract with citizens. In essence, this implies citizens voluntarily surrendering to authorities as they embrace digital IDs, purportedly for their own benefit. World Bank Group President Ajay Banga advocated for a top-down approach to expanding digital ID adoption, urging governments to enforce it rather than relying on citizen acceptance. Banga emphasized the potential benefits of embracing digital technologies, envisioning transparency, clean governance, and enhanced citizen engagement. He underscored the World Bank’s investment in Africa to provide electricity to millions as a prerequisite for internet connectivity, lamenting the underutilization of existing internet access worldwide. Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg echoed Banga’s sentiments, emphasizing the need for increased connectivity to drive digital transformation. Both leaders asserted that improving connectivity would accelerate socio-economic development. The focus on underdeveloped and developing countries as key targets for digital ID initiatives underscores a strategic approach to implementation. Economic promises serve as incentives to persuade these nations to participate, framing digital IDs as catalysts for progress and prosperity. In summary, the discourse surrounding digital ID promotion highlights the alignment of interests between financial and telecommunications giants like the World Bank and Verizon. . . BAD! Remember... Page 7 The Sun Bay Paper March 22, 2024 The Big Banana A picture is worth a thousand words that transcends generations. That photograph of armed New York National Guard troops standing at the entrance of a Queens bound 7-train was another iconic photo that captured the Big Apple devolving into the Big Banana – as in republic. In another sign of societal and political surrender Gov. Kathy Hochul ordered the state’s National Guard to patrol New York City’s subways. In the raw days of the 70’s and 80’s when no subway car went unscathed courtesy of an army of graffi ti bombers, the National Guard stayed home. Armed troops are for Bosnia, not Brooklyn. George Soros fi nanced prosecutors have eff ectively politicized the law with mob rule by decriminalizing crime, foregoing bail and incarceration that undermines law-abiding citizens while criminals walk. The city’s courts are like a catch and release fi shing derby. It is more chaos, hypocrisy, and the deconstruction of the American way of life. When the NYPD went SWAT with assault weapons, helmets, fl ak jackets and looking more like a Marine fi reteam than cops from the local precinct, my Dad, who retired from the job, articulated how they were outfi tted for war, not community policing, which is not a good look that speaks volumes. The criminals know guardsmen are not law enforcement, nor will they engage on a crowded subway platform. In politics optics matter especially during a presidential election year. The image of a uniformed force in the subway promotes the façade that Democrats are tough on crime. They deserve the Oscar for best picture, not Oppenheimer. New York City is where toothpaste is locked up, while criminals roam free. Moreover, beginning in June anyone entering Midtown Manhattan by vehicle can count on being greeted by a hefty toll. Tourism has always been an economic engine for the city but turning it into a Third World haven for illegals and criminals is no tourism strategy unless one wants to relive the 1981 movie, “Escape from New York.” No one has the political courage to take on the underlying problems for fear of being unfairly branded. They only dodge and defl ect, being more afraid of the left than they are of criminals. These politicos don’t use public transportation, regardless. How long before a guardsman confronts a hooligan resulting in an injury or death and charges are fi led against them. Recall the ongoing fate of Marine Daniel Penny charged with manslaughter last year for using a chokehold in subduing a subway felon. The city refuses to prosecute off enders but charges a good Samaritan for protecting innocent citizens. The Penny treatment awaits the National Guard. If the crime wave continues, perhaps the city needs to deploy social workers and climate campaigners next. What does it say about any locale that requires the military to control its criminal elements? It says the same about the voters who continuously re-elect these dolts. The COVID-19 lockdown was a practice run. The National Guard in the subways is more of the same. Can martial law be far behind? Need more proof? Letitia James New York’s attorney general wasn’t happy when NYFD fi remen booed her and chanted “Trump” at a recent promotion ceremony. A memo instructed all fi refi ghters that they “should understand that (the department’s Bureau of Investigations) is gathering video and identifying members that brought discredit … to the department.” The memo said all malefactors “will come to HQ to be educated why their behavior is unacceptable.” It is not just New York but the legion of cities run by socialist democrats. These cities, once the envy of the world, are on the path to ruin via one party rule like any other third world country. Government is to work for its citizens, not against them. Having refused border integrity, the nation’s interior must be militarized. If Donald Trump did such a thing the left would bemoan nonstop how this is a “threat to democracy.” A police state is no answer, but steadfast policing that is unafraid to do their job is. Hochul needs to restore former Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s Broken Windows and stop-and-frisk policies that turned New York into one of the world’s safest cities. In a country where the military must protect its citizens from internal confl ict, anarchy will always reign. Greg Maresca

March 22, 2024 The Sun Bay Paper Page 8 In an era where concerns over sustainability and environmental impact loom large, unconventional solutions are increasingly sought after to meet the growing demand for food. Among these innovative approaches, one unexpected contender has emerged: farmed python meat. While the idea of consuming snake may initially evoke a sense of unease or apprehension, closer examination reveals a potential solution to several pressing challenges facing the global food industry. Traditional livestock farming, particularly beef and pork production, exacts a heavy toll on the environment. From deforestation for grazing land to methane emissions from livestock, the environmental footprint of conventional meat production is signifi cant. In contrast, python farming off ers a more sustainable alternative. Pythons require relatively little space compared to traditional livestock, as they can be raised in captivity in controlled environments. Moreover, they have a lower feed-tomeat conversion ratio compared to mammals, meaning they consume less food to produce the same amount of meat. The environmental benefi ts of python farming extend beyond land use effi ciency. Unlike ruminant animals like cattle, pythons produce minimal methane emissions, a potent greenhouse gas. Additionally, their effi cient metabolism means they require less food and water to grow, reducing the strain on natural resources. By opting for python meat, consumers can signifi cantly lower their carbon footprint compared to conventional meat choices. Beyond its environmental merits, python meat also off ers potential health benefi ts. Python meat is low in fat and cholesterol while being rich in protein, making it a nutritious option for health-conscious consumers. Furthermore, python meat is free from the antibiotics and growth hormones often used in intensive livestock farming, addressing concerns about antibiotic resistance and chemical residues in meat products. While the idea of consuming python meat may be novel to many, it’s worth noting that snakes have been consumed in various cultures for centuries. In parts of Asia, Africa, and the Americas, snake meat is considered a delicacy and is prized for its unique fl avor and texture. By promoting python meat as a sustainable food choice, culinary traditions from around the world can be preserved and celebrated. Furthermore, python meat’s versatility in the kitchen opens up a myriad of culinary possibilities. From grilled python skewers to hearty stews and curries, chefs have the opportunity to experiment with this novel ingredient, creating dishes that are both delicious and sustainable. Of course, ethical considerations surrounding animal welfare cannot be overlooked. It’s essential that python farming operations adhere to strict standards of humane treatment, ensuring that the snakes are raised and slaughtered in a manner that minimizes suff ering. Additionally, eff orts should be made to source pythons from sustainable populations or captive breeding programs to prevent depletion of wild populations. Farmed python meat presents a compelling case as a sustainable and environmentally friendly food choice for the future. With its low environmental impact, nutritional benefi ts, and culinary versatility, python meat has the potential to revolutionize the way we think about protein consumption. While it may not be for everyone, as global demand for food continues to rise, embracing innovative solutions like python farming will be crucial in building a more sustainable and resilient food system for generations to come. March 22, 2024 The United Nations has long been so uniformly corrupt on the subject of Israel that anytime it ekes out an acknowledgement of attacks on the Jewish state -- however reluctantly, belatedly and perfunctorily it does so -- it’s a man-bite-dog story. Last week, a U.N. offi cial who had clearly drawn the bureaucratic short straw issued a “report” of sorts, confi rming what anyone paying attention already knew: that in the process of slaughtering 1,200 Israelis on Oct. 7, Hamas had also committed mass acts of sadistic, savage sexual violence. Hamas’ barbarism against young Israelis at an all-night dance festival or asleep in their beds had been thoroughly documented for months by the time the poor U.N. functionary was asked by the secretary general to do something that looked as though he were looking into the matter in late January -- almost four months after Hamas’ slaughter. God-awful evidence, video and audio recordings by Hamas gunmen, fi rsthand accounts -- and confessions -- had already been collected and analyzed. “Everything was an apocalypse of corpses,” one survivor has recalled. “Girls without any clothes on. Without tops. Without underwear. People cut in half. Butchered. Some were beheaded. There were girls with a broken pelvis due to repetitive rapes. Their legs were spread wide apart in a split.” One Israeli investigator stated that “our team commander saw several female soldiers who were shot in the crotch, intimate parts, vagina or shot in the breasts. There seemed to be systematic genital mutilation of a group of victims.” The U.N. report did make offi cial what had already been assumed about Hamas’ hostages. It found “clear and convincing” evidence that the children and women held by Hamas have been subjected to rape, sexualized torture, and cruel and degrading sexual abuse. Now, it might be imagined that self-professed progressives on campuses, in social justice organizations and in The New York Times newsroom would fi nd it natural to condemn Hamas, to make sure that the public knew about these outrages, and to demand that Hamas release those it continues to hold captive. But no. There are throngs of young feminists who, rightly disgusted by the sheer misogyny on full display in the “Access Hollywood” tape and by Donald Trump’s sexual assault on E. Jean Carroll, wouldn’t be caught dead breathing a public word about Hamas’ rape and torture of Israeli women. We are lucky if young progressives are prepared to acknowledge that it even occurred. As for speaking up about it on campus or in the workplace, forget about it. To say that it isn’t fashionable to deplore what Hamas did and pledges to do again doesn’t capture it; speaking up about this is considered social suicide. The current line is that condemning Hamas’ rape spree amounts to Zionists “weaponizing” rape -- because, you see, it isn’t Hamas, which did the raping, which weaponized rape. It’s those pointing out what Hamas did. Moreover, condemning Hamas for its bestial violence against women is “playing into an anti-Palestinian narrative.” Such is the deeply disturbed state of the left: part Alice-in-Wonderland on steroids, part mind-bending intellectual dishonesty. Writer Batya Ungar-Sargon, author of “Bad News: How Woke Media Is Undermining Democracy,” spoke recently about the video of 25-year-old Noa Argamani dancing at the Nova music festival just before she was executed by Hamas killers, who then carted her body back into Gaza, where a mob cheered. “Can you even imagine a starker contrast between good and evil?” she asked. “Surely, I thought in my naivete, the left would see itself refl ected in these music-loving young people. Surely Noa Argamani begging for her life as the butchers made off with her would inspire on the left a sense of identifi cation and a corresponding sense of anger.” “How could it not?” she says she thought. “Friends, it did not.” So many who hold themselves out as progressives remain silent about Hamas. They justify it, contextualize it, even defend it. Historians will look back at them, and pronounce them a disgrace. Justly so. Jeff Robbins The Sun Bay Paper Page 9 Hate Rape: It’s OK? The Oyster Ed pearls from the muck Last week, the Coast Guard celebrated the grand opening of its new station in Fort Myers Beach with a ceremonial ribbon cutting. The event marked a significant milestone after a year’s delay caused by hurricane damage. Rear Admiral Amy Grable, Assistant Commandant for Engineering and Logistics, spearheaded the ceremony. The new three-story facility will house the Station Fort Myers Beach and Coast Guard Cutter Crocodile crews. It features berthing rooms, a galley, training rooms, and a fitness room equipped to support a variety of missions, including search and rescue, law enforcement, maritime security, environmental protection, and migrant operations. Spanning an operational area from Boca Grande Pass to Rabbit Key, Station Fort Myers Beach is crucial in safeguarding the Southwest Florida coastline. With a crew size of approximately 60 members, the station has two 45foot Response Boat–Mediums and two 29-foot Response Boat–Smalls to execute its multifaceted missions effectively. The Coast Guard Cutter Crocodile, stationed at Fort Myers Beach, focuses on combatting drug smuggling and illegal immigration, ensuring ports, waterways, and coastal security, enforcing marine fisheries, and supporting search and rescue operations. Chief Warrant Officer Christopher C. Cone, Commanding Officer at Station Fort Myers Beach, expressed his gratitude and pride at the opening. “It is an honor and a privilege to accept this new multi-mission facility on behalf of Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach and Coast Guard Cutter Crocodile,” he stated. “This new facility will allow Coast Guard crews to continue mission support and operational excellence throughout the Southwest Florida coastline.” The new station is a testament to the Coast Guard’s resilience and dedication to protecting America’s waters and those who use them. March 22, 2024 The Sun Bay Paper Page 10 Environmental I placed this article as ENVRONMENTAL because anything that comes out of Joe Obiden’s mouth is Toxic, crap, poison, Treason, and goes to his and Hussein’s attempt to destroy America as a free Nation …bankrupt her and take over …by force, violence and intimidation…that’s TREASON! Congress… just sit on your hands and do NOTHING, watching Obiden and Hussein, systematically destroy your country and you WILL be sorry! It’s your fault, we hired you to protect us, we can’t do it ourselves… and you idiots dropped the ball! You need to Impeach Obiden NOW and charge him with Treason…he will hand up Hussein faster than Hussein can say,”But I’m a Christian”! He kept a million classifi ed and non-classifi ed documents, promised to return but never did! Go get them, but be careful your boys don’t trip over the wires running to the Whitehouse and Congress. Get Director Wray to get a search warrant on Hussein wiretap headquarters down the street…I’ll draw up the search warrant if Wray can’t ! Our country is a Christian, Constitutional Republic and has a Constitution, laws, and rules and regulations to keep people safe to enjoy an unalienable right to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. The Pilgrims created this way of life to escape tyranny and to enjoy freedom of religion and freedom of speech. That should sound familiar because that’s the way we manage to survive. Our forefathers were so “set” with certain rights they created a Constitution with the ability to make modifi cations with Amendments to the Constitution and a Bill of Rights. The very fi rst Amendment to the Constitution, the very fi rst sentience set forth a right that remains today, unaltered, although there is a relatively small faction of radical Socialists who are at work making war with our Constitution, through fraud, corruption, lies, cheating; you name it. The RIGHTS our forefathers cemented in that fi rst sentence ... “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” “Most Americans are unaware of the fact that over 200 years ago, the United States had declared war on Islam, and Thomas Jeff erson led the charge! “At the height of the 18th century, Muslim pirates were the terror of the Mediterranean and a large area of the North Atlantic. They attacked every ship in sight, and held the crews for exorbitant ransoms. Those taken hostage were subjected to barbaric treatment and wrote heart breaking letters home, begging their government and family members to pay whatever their Mohammedan captors demanded. “These extortionists of the high seas represented the Islamic nations of Tripoli, Tunis, Morocco, and Algiers … “A religion based on supremacism, whose holy book not only condoned but mandated violence against unbelievers was unacceptable to him. His greatest fear was that someday this brand of Islam would return and pose an even greater threat to the United States.” Louis Jacobson February 2015 Well, that “brand of Islam; was not just a brand”. It IS Islam, but now, much more violent and aggressive and determined to rid the earth of all infi dels…unbelievers! Islam’s book of faith is the Government and all things living, it is the Quran. There is no separation of anything…when to pray, how many times to pray (5), how to dress, how to walk, how to kill unbelievers, infi dels, …smite their heads, hands, feet OFF. Smite means to cut. It is diffi cult to determine when a Muslim is lying or telling the truth because the Quran permits, encourages deceit if necessary to advance Islam. No Muslim can truthfully take an Oath to become a US Citizen and assimilate to become a US Citizen, because in that oath they have to swear…“I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fi delity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America”. That’s why Congress woman Omar and the rest of her crew must be removed from Congress especially those Muslims who took their oath of offi ce on a freaking Quran, that includes Barack Hussein Obama! Every counterfeit, offi cial document he had anything to do with is a Felony! What the hell do you Members of Congress use for brains? You cannot allow any Muslims to take positions of authority. Obama was the biggest mistake, however he had everybody fooled… still does have many fools following him. He/they laugh at your stupidity because of your ignorance about Islam. I admit he had me fooled…until about the time his grandmother was interviewed live and was jubilant, so sincere that she witnessed her grandson’s birth, Hussein’s birth, IN KENYA, and now he’s the President of the United States. I said, “what”? He’s not natural born! I made it a point to track and report everything I could and if ever there was enough evidence, it was right here…phony birth certifi cates, Smithsonian records missing (you have no idea how diffi cult that would be to do. He did it)! He altered/had altered numerous offi cial records including his Selective Service records…what? Yup, he did, phony Social Security card from a dead man (the SSN never reissues a SS card of a deceased SS cardholder!) You cannot get a fi rst SS card over the phone, never could. Of the thousands of SS offi ces in the US, Obama’s Aunt just happened to work in the Connecticut SS offi ce, where his current card came from. At that time, Hussein was in …Hawaii and was about 18 years old. Remember too many coincidences make a fact! So here we go again with a brain-dead President doing what a very brain-alive President wants him to do and he…did…Biden is or did appoint a Muslim to a very important Judgeship…ADEELAMANGI. It matters not what his so-called credentials are or were…here’s what counts the most…DOES HE BELIEVE IN THE SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE? If he is a Muslim that answer is an emphatic, “NO”! The unifi cation of CHURCH and STATE, “IS” Islam and before he opens his mouth to answer, understand this…a Muslim CANNOT pick and choose what Surah’s in the Quran he will obey. It’s all or DEATH…read the freaking Quran! Why do Muslims kill their own…for not obeying Islam! Nothing else matters. If he is a Muslim, he, by Islam law, cannot believe in the separation of Church and State! It is not about what Religion… the religion doesn’t matter…it’s about a belief that the State rules whatever religion you want! It just so happens, his does not believe in the separation of Church and State! What is his Book of Faith? Keep in mind, it has to be the Quran if he’s a Muslim. Next do you believe in all the Surahs in the Quran? Will you denounce, abjure your allegiance to Allah and any other potentate? Now here’s your biggest problem …is he lying? How can we tell? Islam allows lying! Put him on the BOX with a good operator. I read and refer to an English interpretation by Abdullah Yusuf Ali 2003. Read Surah 8.12 page 108 (kill all infi dels, that’s you and me, dummy). Throughout the Quran there’s pages and pages of killing infi dels and beheading and to not stop until they Rule the World. They direct to Kill Jews at every opportunity as they are pigs, pagans. When Thomas Jeff erson spoke to the Tripoli, Muslim Ambassador, Sidi Haji Abdul Raham Adja, who also spoke to Congress, the President asked why they are so violent against the US and everybody else. He responded because their Book of faith, Quran, allowed it, indeed, demanded it. However, if the US paid a Jizya fee of 1 million dollars, he would let the US go in peace! For Christ’s sake, do not make ANY freaking Muslims Judges…you heard Omar, she says that she and her Somali brothers have their own laws and do not have to follow our laws. How dare we force them to obey our rules! Don’t you people listen to what those people say. Iran , “We will kill all Americans”…after 45 years of Iran’s killing of US citizens and soldiers, you dummies give aide to Iran, allowed Obama and Obiden to AID our #1 enemy, allow Obiden to close oil production here so he can buy oil from Iran, Russia ,China…all enemies of the US…what exactly does Congress do?
