Page 1 The Sun Bay Paper As we’re dealing with damaging Lake Okeechobee discharges, there are games going on in Tallahassee. This bad bill, “The Toxic Spill Bill, Senate Bill 738/House Bill 789, was all but dead in the Florida state legislative process a couple of weeks ago, but political power-grabs brought it back to life, and it’s now passed the Senate as of Thursday. As it’s written, the legislation contains egregious provisions that protect big-time polluters and punish hard-working citizens. The bill is toxic by its very nature, limiting the liability of polluters in the event of a spill. Basically, it prohibits citizens from suing polluters for bodily harm or economic damages, if a spill event that caused the damages was permitted by a government agency. Specifi cally, this bill would prevent citizens from taking legal action against permitted polluters in the event of a toxic spill for damages relating to:Medical costs , Loss of Revenue, Reduction in property value, Bodily Harm, March 8, 2024 Volume 9 Issue 12 From Island to Bay, News on the Level production@sunbaypaper.com www.sunbaypaper.com Right... All Along Digital Version Cont. pg 3 Larry Stone, a seasoned safety expert from the Fort Myers area, is making waves across municipalities. Stone’s expertise is in high demand after a catastrophic natural gas explosion in Los Angeles. This retired firefighter and police officer, with a decade of experience training first responders from Florida to Maine, is on a mission. His goal is to educate on the dangers of natural gas, emphasizing the risks to firefighters and police officers who are often first on the scene. Stone’s message is clear: proper education on natural gas hazards is critical for all first responders. “Fire safety should be a Lifestyle, not an afterthought,” Stone says. His efforts caught the attention of Chevron Oil Company, leading to an invitation to California. There, he will conduct safety training sessions for Los Angeles’s first responders to prevent future tragedies. A recent Wilmington, Los Angeles near-tragedy highlighted the need for such specialized training. A semi-truck powered by compressed natural gas exploded, injuring nine firefighters. The blast occurred as they attempted to extinguish the truck fire, unaware of the vehicle’s fuel source. This incident has sparked an investigation into the cause and raised questions about the visibility of fuel-type indicators on such cars. Interviewed by the LA Tims in the explosion’s aftermath, Stone knew what likely caused the mishap. “The pressure relief device failed to work, or the firefighters were cooling the For one magical evening, under the starlit sky of Fort Myers, time stands still as The Marshall Tucker Band transports their fans on a musical journey they will always remember. March 8, 2024 The Sun Bay Paper Page 2 U.S. Supreme Court Unanimously Rules in Favor of Trump in Colorado Ballot Case In a landmark decision that has signifi cant implications for electoral processes and presidential powers, the United States Supreme Court has ruled unanimously in favor of former President Donald Trump in a case concerning Colorado’s electoral procedures. The case, brought before the highest court in the land, centered on a dispute over Colorado’s decision to remove presidential electors who had refused to vote for the candidate who won the state’s popular vote in the 2016 presidential election. These electors, known as “faithless electors,” had sought to vote for alternative candidates instead of adhering to the will of the voters. The Supreme Court’s ruling, which was delivered without dissent, affi rmed the authority of states to bind presidential electors to vote for the candidate who prevails in the state’s popular vote. Writing for the court, Chief Justice John Roberts emphasized the importance of respecting the will of the voters and maintaining the integrity of the electoral process. The decision represents a signifi cant victory for President Trump and his supporters, who had argued that allowing faithless electors to disregard the outcome of the popular vote could undermine the democratic principles upon which the nation’s electoral system is built. By upholding Colorado’s authority to enforce its electoral laws, the Supreme Court has reaffi rmed the states’ role in administering elections and ensuring that the voices of the electorate are heard. The ruling comes amid ongoing debates over the Electoral College and the role of presidential electors in the election process. Critics of the Electoral College system have long called for its abolition, arguing that it is undemocratic and susceptible to manipulation. However, proponents contend that the Electoral College serves as a vital safeguard against the tyranny of the majority and preserves the balance of power between states with varying populations. In the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s decision, attention has turned to its potential impact on future elections and the broader implications for presidential powers. The ruling establishes a clear precedent regarding states’ authority to regulate the conduct of presidential electors and enforce penalties for those who defy state laws. Furthermore, the unanimous nature of the court’s decision sends a powerful message about the importance of upholding the rule of law and preserving the integrity of the electoral process. In a deeply divided political climate, the Supreme Court’s ability to reach consensus on such a contentious issue underscores the judiciary’s role as a stabilizing force in American democracy. As the nation looks ahead to future elections, the Supreme Court’s ruling in favor of President Trump in the Colorado ballot case serves as a reminder of the enduring principles that underpin the American electoral system. By upholding the rule of law and safeguarding the integrity of the democratic process, the court has reaffi rmed its commitment to ensuring that the voices of the American people are heard and respected in the halls of power. Former President Donald Trump issued a strong and decisive reaction following the United States Supreme Court’s unanimous ruling in favor of his position in a case concerning Colorado’s electoral procedures. The decision, which affirmed Colorado’s authority to enforce its laws binding presidential electors to vote for the candidate who prevails in the state’s popular vote, has been met with praise and satisfaction from Trump and his supporters. In a series of statements released via social media and through his representatives, Trump hailed the Supreme Court’s ruling as a victory for electoral integrity and the rule of law. He lauded the court’s affirmation of states’ rights to regulate the conduct of presidential electors and enforce penalties for those who defy state laws, describing it as a “historic decision” that upholds the will of the voters. Furthermore, Trump’s reaction to the Supreme Court’s decision highlights the ongoing influence he wields within the Republican Party and the broader conservative movement. As a vocal and influential figure, Trump’s endorsement of the court’s ruling could shape the party’s stance on electoral issues and influence its approach to future elections. While Trump’s reaction to the Supreme Court’s decision on the Colorado ballot case has been largely positive, it is likely to reignite debates over the Electoral College and the role of presidential electors in the election process.

Page 3 March 8, 2024 The Sun Bay Paper Lights tested, soundchecks reverberated through the air, and the stage was set for an epic performance. As the sun begins to set on March 26th, fans will pour into the amphitheater, their faces alive with anticipation. Some having traveled from across the state, while others come from neighboring towns to witness the magic of the Marshall Tucker Band. As the lights dimm and the crowd erupts into cheers, the Band takes their places on stage, their presence commanding and electrifying. Jake imagines that from the first notes of “Heard It in a Love Song,” the audience is hooked, transported back in time by the band’s signature blend of rock, country, and blues. For Jake, each song will be a journey through his own personal history, a soundtrack to the moments that had shaped his life, and of memories with his dad. As he’ll sing along with the crowd, he feels a sense of connection, not just to the music, but to everyone around him. As the night wares on, hit after hit fill the amphitheater, each one met with thunderous applause and cheers. Classics like “Fire on the Mountain” and “Take the Highway” resonated through the air, their timeless melodies weaving a tapestry of memories and emotions. And as the final notes of “Can’t You See” echoed into the night, the crowd erupts into a standing ovation, their cheers echoing off the walls of the amphitheater. The Marshall Tucker Band took their bows, their faces beaming with joy and gratitude. For Jake and the thousands of other fans in attendance, it will be a night they will never forget. Under the starlit sky of Fort Myers, the Marshall Tucker Band will deliver a performance that transcends time, reminding everyone why their music had endured for generations. And Jake can’t wait! Southwest Florida’s coolest concert venue sprawls across the eastern side of Centennial Park, overlooking the glistening waters of the Caloosahatchee River in downtown Fort Myers and is located at 2101 Edwards Drive, Fort Myers. The amphitheater grounds can hold about 2,500-3,000 people — possibly more — surpassing other mid-sized Southwest Florida venues such as Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall (1,874 seats) and Artis—Naples (1,477 seats). Expires 2-29-2024 Marshal Tucker Band Cont. from pg. 1 and other economic damages So, if a polluter spills toxic chemicals, signifi cantly degrading the water quality, and a fi shing guide loses his source of income or suff ers bodily harm like respiratory issues, chemical burns, cancer or any other type of harm due to the toxic spill, then this bill prevents that fi shing guide from suing the polluter over the impacts of those damages, if the event that caused the injuries was duly permitted or authorized by a government agency. This bill is just another way for major polluters to avoid responsibility for the environmental and human health consequences of their big-dollar operations. And the way that it’s been legislated is another reminder of the vigilance that’s required to make sure new policies at the state level safeguard our waters and the people that depend on them—rather than subject them to more toxic waste. Now that the Florida Senate passed their version of this bad bill, a review and a vote of the House version is the next step in the process. So, we’re urging the Florida House NOT TO HEAR this bill. March 8, 2024 The Sun Bay Paper Page 4 Letters to The Editor Editorial To the Editor, I have lived in Lee County for 50 years and had never picked up this little paper until today. What a MAGA pile of hogwash it is! I am absolutely shocked. I am shocked that your little paper has not been sued for defamation. Oh! I forgot! You are protected by the First Amendment, the one item in the constitution that you all claim, when spewing out toxic misinformation! Shame of you! This country is in the throes of such darkness because of rubbish like this.. Of course, the globe is warming. Whether you will admit it or not. And we do not hate all populations of people, if we have a working mind and a healthy “emotional IQ.” It would appear that spreading hatred of other religions and of a president you also seem to hate is your brand. I believe they call it MAGA? I sure hope my children and grandchildren never run into your toxic commentary. A once time reader only, Sarah Wilmarth/Fort Myers, FL Exec. See our Environmental page 10. AMissed Opportunity for Legacy and Leadership? Fort Myers Beach’s iconic pier, a cornerstone of local tourism and community pride, stands at risk. The Lee County Commissioners, tasked with deciding the pier’s future after Ian’s destruction a year and a half ago, have signaled a desire for a modest update rather than the transformative rebuild many had hoped for. This decision, spearheaded by Commissioner Ray Sandelli, who represents District 3, falls short of the community’s aspirations for a world-class attraction that could drive future economic growth and tourism. Commissioner Sandelli, appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis in 2019 and elected in 2020, brings a rich service background and professional achievement to his role. A proud veteran, Sandelli’s career spans from naval aviator and Blue Angel to a distinguished tenure in commercial real estate, culminating in senior positions at CBRE and local involvement with CRE Consultants. His leadership in educational, charitable, and civic organizations, including the University of Florida and Habitat for Humanity, illustrates a commitment to community development and service. Sandelli knows how real estate investment and economic activity work. Despite his impressive resume, Sandelli’s decision on the pier project is perplexing. The current plan maintains the 1991 pier’s dimensions, with only minimal updates for code compliance, ignoring the potential to expand and enhance its capacity and appeal. This approach overlooks the pier’s signifi cance as Lee County’s most signifi cant tourist draw outside its beaches. It fails to capitalize on an opportunity to create a lasting legacy that bolsters FMB and Lee County’s economic and social fabric. The Lee County Commissioners’ reluctance to pursue a more ambitious pier rebuild is particularly surprising given the community’s apparent support for such a project. Advocacy groups, stakeholders, and elected offi cials, including the Let’s Go FMB Pier Committee and Town Council Member Karen Woodson, have presented compelling visions for a forward-looking pier that could accommodate more visitors, particularly for sunset viewings, and serve as a beacon of resilience and attraction. Yet, these calls for a grander vision have gone unheeded. The decision not to invest in a more signifi cant rebuild is a missed opportunity for leadership that misaligns with Sandelli’s history of service, achievement, and excellence. A world-class pier would enhance FMB’s appeal and serve as a testament to the county’s ability to rise above adversity and envision a brighter future. This project could have been a capstone to Commissioner Sandelli’s career, as he announced he would not stand for reelection. Shepherding a robust pier rebuild would combine his military discipline, business acumen, and commitment to public service into a tangible legacy. One thing is crystal clear: a “below-average, obsolete, and barely serviceable” update to the FMB Pier is a clear disservice to residents, visitors, economic activity, and Lee County tourism revenues. Why isn’t Commissioner Sandelli fi ghting harder for FMB and Lee County’s future? There is, however, a glimmer of hope. Lee County Commissioners like Kevin Ruane and Cecil Pendergrass still have the opportunity to rethink this decision and opt for a plan that mirrors the community’s ambitions. The FMB Town Council should consider an immediate resolution renaming the pier as “The Ray Sandelli - Lee County Pier.” This action will underscore the lasting impact such a project could have on FMB’s recovery, economic activity, and future fortunes. Whether as a symbol of visionary leadership or a cautionary tale of missed opportunity, the decision will shape the community’s future. The current trajectory for the Fort Myers Beach Pier project highlights a broader issue of vision and commitment in local governance. As the community rallies for a pier that could redefi ne its shoreline and economic prospects, the question remains: will its leaders rise to the occasion? FMB should still name the pier “The Ray Sandelli - Lee County Pier” if things go south. Locals and tourists alike should be left with a decades-long reminder of what could have been, off ering a critical lesson in the importance of ambitious, forward-thinking leadership in public service. Richard Luthmann Dear Editor, The lake Okeechobee releases have begun again in our region. What have we learned from it over the years? Apparently nothing ! I often wonder what’s it gonna take to make this a forfont issue in SWFL! After all how long before real estate, tourism, and development begin to suff er fi nancially from the devestating eff ects the lake Okeechobee releases have on such a bottom line.... I often wonder how long before the public offi cials of each SWFL city will begin to not only educate themselves on cyanotoxins, yet inform the public in general of the human health eff ects on such a SWFL pollution of people.... And , I often wonder if our local Congress member (s) will ever stop playing politics involving the lake Okeechobee discharges, rather then take $ from the sugar industry and put their energy into solutions to our very own ecological disaster.... What will the future hold for all of Lee county as the dumping drain known as the C43 canal, once know as the Caloosahatchee River via lake Okeechobee releases..... The writing is on the wall folks. The cat is outta the bag so to speak now. The reality is Lee county Florida is now known as a dirty water destination. Leaving must visitors opting to vacation elsewhere, while fueling tourism money to get other coastal fronts who are.not eff ected by the toxic Lake Okeechobee discharges instead year after year now. Ladies and gents; We in Lee county Florida are the victims of not only toxic water, yet also victims of our elected offi cials and politicians letting us down as they would rather be paid off by special interests such as big sugar instead of standing up for the people and waterways of SWFL. If we do nothing then we too are a part of the problem. The only way to solving a problem is fi rst, admitting there is a problem. Ignoring the issue of the ongoing ecological disaster known as the Lake Okeechobee discharges will only leave us all left in the sake of denial. SWFL don’t just have a water quality issues, SWFL also suff ering from a complacency issue as well. Get involved in the fi ght for clean water SWFL. If you don’t , the toxic discharges from lake Okeechobee onto our community very well may kill you via the toxins involved such as cyanotoxins, BMAA, and harsh chemicals send from lake Okeechobee, down the Caloosahatchee River, and straight into our easturuies. I encourage all of SWFL to mobilize and fi ght back for our community who deserves Clean. Water ! John G Heim

Page 5 The Sun Bay Paper March 8, 2024 I’ve been writing, ad nauseam, about Hussein Obama’s ever evolving “Fundamental Change of America”, to a Socialist, Islamic Nation? Socialism is coming, my opinion! Also remember what I’ve written so many times …”too many coincidences make a fact”? In case you missed it, last week AT&T, T Mobile and Verizon all lost phone service…it stopped! I spoke to a friend in San Diego, California and he said they lost all phones as well and he works for a Sat Phone company!! So it wasn’t a local, accidental…oops. It Was Obama and Obiden at work. You disbelievers had better pull your heads out from where they are stuck…and follow the facts and NOT Climate Change fairy-tails! We are at war with Islam! They know it…but you don’t and a former President is leading the charge and it’s not Trump. Why would George Soros buy so many ignorant Mayors, A G’s, Judges, and other politicians…because they are smart… or …easily controlled? Director Wray, THIS IS NOT AN ACCIDENT, IT’S a part of their COUP, my opinion!!!! There have been numerous incidents to weaken our country that have never happened before with no explanation from any “leaders” as to why? No President EVER opened the Borders or stopped an energy independent America from drilling…NEVER! Only a mentally defective President would! We have had shutdowns of electric power (brownouts, BS), communications… Internet, AT&T… When asked why, we are told…”tests”. Outrageous increases in prices and unexplainable excuses of shortages of essentials… like food products, fossil fuels (oil, gasoline, and diesel), baby diapers and formula, etc. In my opinion, the serious threats coming from the most corrupt White House and Congress (House and Senate) that this Nation has EVER seen, backed by SOROS’ infl uence (money), will sound like this… 1. “We will stop the use of fossil fuels” …what’s the reason? Climate Change. That’s NOT a reason, it’s an excuse, a lame excuse for a cover-up…there’s been Climate Change for 5 billion years folks and we are/were doing just fi ne …until Hussein Obama and Islam arrived on the scene. 2. “We will do away with the US Dollar as our currency” …why… because cash is not traceable. Obama proved that when he gave Iran BILLIONS of cash from almost every country in the world … and we will replace it with traceable, US DIGITAL DOLLAR. 3. “We will devalue the dollar, close all the banks… take your cash from your banks …and replace the thousands of banks with …THE FED… run by ONE PERSON… the Chairman of the Fed. I am going to take a stab at what the Fed Chair will be…a woman, minority, expert in BITCOIN/DIGITAL MONEY, Communist, Socialist with Islamic ties, somehow…with no allegiance to our Constitution…probably dual citizenship with some socialist country! By the way…there will be NO Constitution. Again … my opinion! 4. WE WILL SHUT DOWN THE NATIONAL GRID! Biden said so on 12/23/23! Now you don’t believe what I am saying because NONE, and I mean NONE, of these events have happened before… INTENTIONALLY. Ask our leadership (Obama/Obiden) why? What you are seeing right now is a soft coup...a takeover …TREASON…so slick that many do not realize that you are about to lose all your freedoms. The reason they are trying to do away with Donald Trump is because he knows what’s happening, will stop it …is probably the only one who can stop it…and we MUST…help him and ourselves, by making him President again. The open borders alone should be an awakening…but it is not! How about this fact…there are more illegal aliens than US citizens in 40 of the 50 States…all because of Obiden’s Executive Orders on the border. Why did Obiden/Obama cripple the oil industry by closing so many legal, productive oil wells thereby making a completely, energy, self-suffi cient Nation dependent on our enemies…Russia, China, Iran…when we have all we need, below our feet…WHY? Is that not the exact defi nition of TREASON…by both these traitors who swore to protect us! CLIMATE CHANGE, really? The Right Side ALERT…ALERT…ALERT... HEADS UP…ITS COMING! March 8, 2024 The Sun Bay Paper Page 6 The Right Side Cont. from pg 5 Look at the book in Obama’s hand and ask yourself … “Why, what’s he up to”? I do not know the writer of what is reported, but this picture is all over the internet… “A picture is worth a thousand words. SOMEONE WAS AT THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME WITH A CAMERA. IT WAS REPORTED THAT PRESIDENT OBAMAWAS FURIOUS THAT HE WAS CAUGHT ON CAMERAAND IT WAS PUBLISHED AND TRIED TO BLOCK IT. The name of the book Obama is holding is called: The Post-American World, and it was written by a fellow Muslim. (Fareed Zakaria) “Post” America means: The World “After” America… this should really be passed around…” Well folks the chickens are coming home to roost…Hussein is making his moves… “testing” what’s about to come…testing?! Since when does the government shut down our ability to communicate? I believe the recent shutdown of AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon were intentional, planned and not an accident by the team of Obama and Obiden ! My opinion, it was unauthorized by those suppliers…ask them!! It was the scum in the White House. For Christ’s sake, Mainstream Media, what the hell does it take…it’s not a freaking accident… get off your asses and investigate instead of beating up on Trump. You are about to lose the ability to communicate by phone and internet…get off your ass…demand answers and don’t take, “We’re working on it”. If you don’t vote for Donald Trump, there will no longer be a Constitutional Republic or any freedom of the press! You will be told what to write…just like now…only worst…but you are too dumb to realize it!?! FBI Director Wray should contact AT&T, T- Mobile and Verizon and determine if they are responsible and if they are not responsible…we have a BIG problem!! In my opinion, it is highly unlikely the utilities would conduct a “test” like that! Go directly to those, most likely, in government who have the capability (NSA?). In my opinion, either government employees working with Hussein or contractors working for Hussein are responsible/involved and put them on notice. ANY government employees/contractors involved in what would be a Terrorist Act of shutting down the grid, internet, or phone communication, will be charged with TERRORISM and/or TREASON… and given the highest punishment possible, DEATH …no matter who gave the order!!! Page 7 The Sun Bay Paper March 8, 2024 “Heart Smart Lee County” From Trusted Informant in 2010 to Accused Liar in 2024 In case any of the characters drawn to Hunter Biden -- back in the years when now-President Joe Biden’s son was trolling for dollars by dangling access to his father -- missed the warning federal law enforcement delivered this month, the DOJ sent it twice. On Feb. 14, the FBI arrested Alexander Smirnov at Harry Reid International Airport on two charges of making false statements about the Bidens, whom he accused in June 2020 of taking $5 million each in bribes from a Ukrainian oligarch. On Tuesday, a federal judge in Las Vegas ordered Smirnov released. Then special counsel David Weiss had Smirnov, who had served as a confi dential human informant for the government since 2010, arrested again -- this time in his Las Vegas attorneys’ offi ce on Thursday. When you think about all the violent criminals who are loose in America today -- many of them migrants who illegally crossed the Southwest border -- it’s breathtaking to consider the federal manpower deployed to lock up Smirnov, who isn’t exactly Public Enemy No. 1 (unless you’re a Biden). According to Weiss, Smirnov, a 43-year-old who has lived in Las Vegas for about two years, is a bald schemer who spread Russian misinformation. Smirnov told the government he only had $1,500 in cash on hand and $5,000 in a checking account when, according to the indictment, he had access to more than $2.9 million and “his wife/girlfriend (he refers to her both ways)” has access to $3.8 million. “The fact that Smirnov misrepresented his assets alone should cause Smirnov to be detained because it shows that, at the fi rst opportunity, he did not provide true and complete information to Pretrial Services,” Weiss argued. That the FBI would rely on informants who have a transactional relationship with the truth tells you everything about the country’s premier law enforcement agency. The institutional culture is corrupt. According to Weiss, the bureau has used Smirnov as an informant repeatedly since 2010. Now the government says he’s a fabulist. It always amazes me when the FBI indignantly calls out one of its longtime snitches for withholding information that should have been unearthed during a due-diligence background check. Watch TV and you believe that the FBI is run by smart, competent professionals who want nothing more than to get the bad guys. Read charges against a source who, until recently, gave the FBI what it wanted, and that all melts away. Because the feds soured on a longtime source, you can expect an unknown number of federal inmates to be freed because they were convicted on the word of an informant whom the FBI no longer trusts. That’s great for the wobblers but lousy when it helps serious off enders whom law enforcement could have prosecuted successfully with a little more sweat equity and a little less arrogance. Pushing to keep Smirnov behind bars is Hunter Biden himself, who is awaiting trial on charges of making false statements on a federal fi rearms form, as well as nine federal tax charges. He has pleaded not guilty. The president’s son wants to avoid jail time -- and who can blame him -- yet Biden’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, fi led a brief that urged the government to keep Smirnov locked up pending his trial. Smirnov, after his brief release following his fi rst arrest, remains detained. For someone who admittedly violated the Draconian federal drug laws his father championed, Hunter Biden sure can play hardball. Debra J. Saunders Lee County Public Safety has launched the “Heart Smart Lee County” campaign, a community-driven eff ort to improve cardiac arrest response and outcomes. This initiative uses Hands-Only CPR and emergency response procedures to educate the public on the importance of immediate intervention in cardiac arrest incidents. “We are excited to roll out the Heart Smart initiative. In moments of cardiac arrest, each second counts. We aim to increase actionable confi dence, awareness and knowledge surrounding Hands-Only CPR to help save lives of residents and visitors of Lee County.” Lee County Public Safety Director Benjamin Abes told us. The campaign includes: Hands-Only CPR training: A short video, printable fl yers and other educational materials help to raise awareness about cardiac arrest and its warning signs. CPR class sign-ups: Lee County encourages residents to enroll in its partners’ CPR and Hands-Only CPR classes to educate residents and visitors on eff ective intervention during cardiac emergencies. Community AED Registry: Local businesses and organizations should register AEDs (automated external defi brillators) with the 911 dispatch system. Once an AED is registered, 911 operators can help a witness locate the AED and provide life-saving care. Community Partnership: Lee County works with several community partners such as Lee Health, the American Heart Association, Florida Department of Health, Florida SouthWestern State College and other local organizations and businesses. For more information, visit www.HeartSmartLee.com for resources, a full list of partners, campaign details, and to register your AED in the registry.

March 8, 2024 The Sun Bay Paper Page 8 In Fort Myers Beach’s vibrant North End tourist center, Town Manager Andy Hyatt and Operations & Compliance Director Frankie Kropacek recently made their presence felt. Addressing the local business community at the Roxie off Times Square, they shared insights during an FMB Chamber of Commerce “Small Business Power Hour.” Their message was clear: FMB is on a swift path to recovery, fostering a business-friendly environment and service unlike ever before. Hyatt, embracing a new governance culture of “education over enforcement,” announced signifi cant strides in streamlining processes. “Permitting is now down to less than two weeks. I wish we could do it same-day,” he stated, emphasizing the team’s eff ort to be more approachable and effi cient post-Ian. The recovery eff ort, Hyatt highlighted, is a testament to the town’s dedicated staff . “We have excellent staff . No one can do it alone,” he remarked, acknowledging the collective eff ort in relocating the town’s temporary offi ces to Bay Oaks Park, ensuring continuity in services. Addressing the increased contractor traffi c and its impact, Hyatt revealed that all options to alleviate congestion were being considered, though some, like over-road bridges, were deemed unviable for Fort Myers Beach. Moreover, he confi rmed the green light for Santini Plaza’s reopening, marking a signifi cant step forward for local businesses. In a groundbreaking move, Hyatt shared the town’s fi rst-ever request for federal funding, facilitated by Senator Rubio and Senator Scott’s offi ces. “It looks promising. There may be a mechanism for [the Town] to receive federal funds,” he noted, highlighting a potential milestone in federal engagement. Kropacek, on his part, spoke of the symbiotic relationship between the town government and small businesses. “Small Business found a way to pick itself up by its bootstraps after Ian. Together, we have a lot to off er everyone,” he stated, underscoring a collective journey towards resilience and prosperity. The FMB Chamber’s weekly “Small Business Power Hour,” sponsored by Lake Michigan Credit Union, is a testament to this enduring partnership, inviting all to join in fostering community and growth. As Fort Myers Beach looks ahead, focused and accessible town leadership and the community’s indomitable spirit signal a new dawn of recovery, resilience, and revitalization for the local business landscape. March 8, 2024 Sent to Sun Bay Paper By A Ghost writer, Time is like a river. You cannot touch the water twice, because the fl ow that has passed will never pass again. Franklin Graham was speaking at the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville , Florida , when he said America will not come back. He wrote: “The American dream ended “ The fi rst term of Joe Biden has been the fi nal nail in the coffi n for the legacy of the white Christian males who discovered, explored, pioneered, settled and developed the greatest republic in the history of mankind. A coalition of blacks, Latinos, feminists, gays, government workers, union members, environmental extremists, the media, Hollywood , uninformed young people, the “forever needy,” the chronically unemployed that do not want to work , illegal aliens and other “fellow travelers” have ended......... Norman Rockwell’s America. You will never again out-vote these people. It will take individual acts of defi ance and massive displays of civil disobedience to get back the rights we have allowed them to take away. It will take zealots, not moderates and shy, not reach-across-the-aisle RINOs (Republicans In Name Only) to right this ship and restore our beloved country to its former status. People like me are completely politically irrelevant, and I will probably never again be able to legally comment on or concern myself with the aforementioned coalition which has surrendered our culture, our heritage and our traditions without a shot being fi red. The Cocker spaniel is off the front porch, the pit bull is in the back yard, the American Constitution has been replaced with Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” and the likes of Chicago shyster David Axelrod along with international socialist George Soros have been pulling the strings on their beige puppet and have brought us Act 2 of the New World Order. The curtain will come down but the damage has been done, the story has been told. Those who come after us will once again have to risk their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to bring back the Republic that this generation has timidly frittered away due to white guilt and political correctness. March 8, 2024 The Sun Bay Paper Page 10 Environmental Vindication in the Face of Globalist Deception Climate change is a narrative driven by alarmism and fi nancial interests. J. Gary DiLaura, the publisher of the Sun Bay Paper, has said the same for decades. He said the same when Al Gore was chasing polar bears and “global warming” in between inventing the Internet. DiLaura, with a robust background in metallurgy, chemistry, and federal law enforcement, has long contested the foundational claims of the climate change narrative—his basis: empirical reason, scientifi c integrity, and common sense. But the Green Energy Cabal and their paid mouthpieces have constantly attacked his assertions. What is the “claim”? We witness a natural variance in climate patterns, grossly misrepresented as a crisis of human making. Recent revelations corroborate DiLaura’s skepticism, showcasing profound fl aws in the data that have fueled global warming hysteria for decades. A Crusade Against Corrupted Climate Data For years, DiLaura busted the myth. Data manipulation and biased funding have skewed research outcomes. “GLOBAL WARMING…NO! CLIMATE CHANGE…YES…but necessary!” The decorated retired FBI Special Agent says that the shift in terminology is a tactic to sustain fear despite contradictory evidence. He says the evidence from the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and other data collection authorities is being cooked by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), an intergovernmental body of the UN. The IPCC recklessly uses the skewed data to make climate policy statements, further advancing a fraudulent globalist agenda. DiLaura’s critique is on point. An 18-year study by the IPCC resulted in a model to predict Global Warming. However, Global Historical data reveals a disturbing pattern of inconsistent data adjustments, undermining the reliability of a dataset pivotal to the climate change narrative. The result of a 10,000-year study by NOAA proved that the Antarctic Ice cap is colder, bigger, and thicker NOW than 10,000 years ago and released that report at the 2015 Paris Accord, resulting in the resignation of several IPCC members! “It seems that with these homogenization programs, it is a case where the cure is worse than the disease,” comments Ronan Connolly, an independent scientist with the Center for Environmental Research and Earth Sciences (CERES), echoing DiLaura’s concerns about the integrity of climate data. The Misguided Crusade of the IPCC and “Soros-Backed Science” The IPCC is dependent upon US Billions of grant dollars to universities receiving signifi cant contributions from fi nancial magnates like George Soros and supported by globalist agendas. Based on this dubious data, that has been at the forefront of pushing climate policies. DiLaura points out the inherent confl ict of interest in granting research funds solely to institutions that pledge allegiance to the “global warming” / “climate change” doctrine. “The IPCC decided to grant all 5 billion to Colleges with PhD scientists, who have no jobs after eight years of College and no money to ‘study’ Global Warming IF, and only IF, they agreed that there IS Global Warming, and they will try to PROVE it,” DiLaura warns, highlighting the perverse incentives at play undermining the scientifi c method. DiLaura’s Early Warnings Now Echoed by Experts DiLaura’s early caution against the politicization of climate science is now echoed by a growing chorus of experts who challenge the integrity of the climate change narrative. Recent studies demonstrate the extensive impact of urban heat bias. Astrophysicist Willie Soon, a founder of CERES, also critiques the IPCC’s dogmatic approach. “The resounding conclusion is that the data collected is unreliable,” says Soon, a view now shared by CERES and a critical mass of reputable climate scientists worldwide. The UN’s Approach Skews Solidly Collected Data An obscure process known as “homogenization” corrupts the raw data collected by NOAA and other reliable outlets. The UN’s so-called “experts” employ algorithms designed to “correct” various biases in the natural temperature numbers. “Urban blending” involves comparing temperature records from one station and others in the surrounding area. If one seems way out of sync with the others, the program assumes it was a non-climactic bias that should be “corrected.” The biggest problem is that the IPCC’s approach allows urban warming to contaminate the entire temperature record by blending it with rural data. The result is that the disparate data sets are combined, allowing some of the urban warming to be mixed in with the rural data that doesn’t have the problem. The Urban Heat Island Eff ect: A Smoking Gun The urban heat island eff ect is a related critical fl aw used by climate change advocates. This phenomenon, largely ignored or underestimated by the UN’s IPCC, signifi cantly contaminates the global temperature record. Undue warming is falsely attributed to human activities. The temperature stations once located in rural areas are now surrounded by roads, buildings, airports, and cities. Where temperatures were once collected on a grass fi eld, that site is now covered in blacktop. This produces additional localized warming around the thermometer, which certain analysts say is drastic “global warming” when many similar stations are examined together. However, this is not true, and the IPCC has acknowledged the urban heat island eff ect and the data contamination. According to scientists, this issue looms, but the UN agency dismisses it as “a minor issue.” This heat bias signifi cantly diminishes the alleged warming trends when correctly accounted for. In the peer-reviewed study, Soon and a coalition of scientists estimate that as much as 40 percent of the slight warming since the 19th century used by the IPCC is the result of this urban heat bias and is probably not CO2-driven global warming. DiLaura warns about accepting the IPCC or anyone else’s analysis as fact. “Science simply does not know the CLIMATE FACTS,” DiLaura cautions, pointing to biased methodologies, fl awed data collection protocols, and brazen outside confl icts of interest. Conclusion: A Call for Integrity in Climate Science J. Gary DiLaura’s longstanding challenge to the climate change narrative is not merely a dissenting voice but a call to restore integrity and objectivity in climate science. As more experts come forward to validate DiLaura’s concerns, the conversation shifts from alarmism to a reasoned examination of natural climate variability. “The real issue is not the climate itself, but the integrity of the science used to study it. The real crisis is not so-called ‘CLIMATE CHANGE’ but in the corruption of science by political and fi nancial interests with a GLOBALIST AGENDA,” DiLaura asserts. Urging a departure from manipulated data and fear-driven policies toward a discourse grounded in empirical evidence and transparent methodology, DiLaura not only vindicates his position but also illuminates a path forward he believes eschews globalist deception in favor of scientifi c truth. According to DiLaura, leftist politics has perverted climate science. “The reason we are talking about Global Warming and Control of Climate Change is the same reason why OBIDEN opened the Borders, is buying oil from Iran, and is shutting down our banks and businesses. They are all excellent ways for the plans of former president Hussein Obama to spend, spend, spend to bankrupt America, weaken her, and do like many Sharia Muslims do and rape her into submission - which is what Muslim means: submit!” The recent support for DiLaura’s consistent climate claims strengthens the conclusion that those outlets most independent from monetary and political infl uence and bias will produce the most reliable climate data and analysis as we advance.
