Some have very high-interest rates, but even the “low” rate cards pose major debt problems for those who are not bringing in as much as they’re sending out. This is having a masking effect on the true state of the economy. Millions of Americans are underwater on their debt but since they still have some of their limits available or are getting new cards to compensate, we’re not seeing the rampant destitution that other countries would be seeing at this point. We’re a nation of borrowers, and right now, the lenders are paying far too many bills for desperate Americans.
