The federal response to this storm, coming so soon after Helene, could have significant political ramifications. While risky, Trump’s strategy of attacking the administration’s disaster response may pay off if the response to Milton is anything less than flawless. “This is about leadership,” said Republican pollster Whit Ayres. “Voters want to see who can handle a crisis, and Harris hasn’t shown that she can right now. If Milton hits hard and the response falters, it could push voters away from the Democrats.” Democratic strategist Jim Manley acknowledged the pressure on the administration but urged them to stay focused on the task. “They’re on overdrive right now,” he said. “Republicans are doing everything they can to sow confusion, but Biden and Harris need to stay focused on disaster relief.” Conclusion: AMake-or-Break Moment Name ONE successful thing they have accomplished… either or both.
