Local Restaurants Support Lion’s Club Shrimp Festival
by Richard Luthmann
Peter Ennis and Ray Don-ovan from Snug Harbor Restau-rant and Wahoo Willie’s recently presented Drew Yelle and Diane Clifton of the Fort Myers Beach Lion’s Club with a $1,000 check for this year’s Shrimp Festival. The generous donation highlights the ongoing community support from these local businesses.
The Fort Myers Beach LIONS Club organized the official Shrimp Festival ‘Shrimp Crawl’ from March 4th to March 10th. This year, the club adapted to a new location that precluded their traditional shrimp boil. To compensate, the LIONS Club partnered with local restaurants and bars to offer a week-long shrimp feast featuring the local #PinkGold shrimp. This year’s event saw participation from 16 beach businesses, including Wahoo Willie’s and Snug Harbor Restaurant, which committed to donating a portion of their proceeds to aid local community efforts.
Wahoo Willie’s featured a Shrimp Crawl special of either hot or cold peel-and-eat shrimp, catering to simple seafood tastes. Snug Harbor Restaurant offered more elaborate dishes, including grilled Pink Gold shrimp served with Florida corn coulis, jasmine steamed rice, and a shrimp bisque. These culinary contributions provided festival-goers with various ways to enjoy the local seafood while supporting a good cause.
The Shrimp Festival and its associated Shrimp Crawl served as a culinary showcase and reinforced the community’s commitment to supporting local needs. The participation of local businesses like Wahoo Willie’s and Snug Harbor Restaurant demonstrates a strong community spirit and dedication to positively impacting Fort Myers Beach and its residents.
