Shelling with the Experts
by Sun Bay Paper Staff
Are you an early riser? One fun and entertaining experience for you to check out is the Sunrise Shell and Mollusk Stroll at Lighthouse Beach on Sanibel.
Guided by one of the passionate shell experts/marine biologist from the Baily-Matthews National Shell Museum and Aquarium. This adventure is held during an early-morning low-tide and is a fun beach walk to learn about Sanibel’s local mollusks and their shells, and to search for live mollusks.
These small group experiences are great for the aspiring malacologist (a scientist who studies mollusks) as it will help participants gain a closer understanding of molluscan biology and biodiversity, and with the cooler seasonal temperatures and timing with very low tides, they are excellent shelling conditions and a good opportunity to fi nd and observe living mollusks.
All walks take place at Lighthouse Beach on Sanibel. Capacity is limited and pre-registration is required.

Friday, January 26, 7:30am
Thursday, February 8, 6:00am Sunday, March 10, 7:30am
